Low expectations, but high long-term hopes!
Nice to see I made through another winter. Hope Springs eternal!
Will Bob get to call meaningful games in September?
Brewers losing on a bomb, striking out left and right, and opening day ace hurt trying to run on a bunt. Brewers in mid-season form.
Got 4 back.
And before I get chastised for being negative,
Pitching, pitching, pitching...
The error at second base was mid season form. The eight had runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs to add to the agony when they struck out the side.
Junior Guerra is on crutches. This is going to be more than a 10-day absence, Counsell says.

Meet the new Brew Crew, same as the old Brew Crew.
One game. 1/162th of the season.
Also, I expect 75* wins this year. Anything over that is gravy.
*would have been 79, but now Jr. is hurt.
Guerra hurt, 14 strikeouts, shoddy relief pitching. Hell yeah
Not sure exactly what the exceptions are, but, sure Buster
Have heard this repeatedly from evaluators this spring: The Brewers are going to play over expectations this year.

Umm yeah Buster please don't buy in to the that. Is it possible? sure but this is the Brewers we are talking about.
It's like saying the Packers can go 11-5 without Rodgers.

If the expectations are that they will lose 105 games then yes, they might drastically exceed those expectations by only losing 90.
I'm willing to be patient as the farm system develops, but their starting pitching has the potential to be horrifically bad. The goal for this year is to have Garza and some of the other older guys play well enough to bring back at least some additional low level prospects at the trade deadline. Garza and Guerra (32 years old) can hopefully both get flipped and maybe Braun nets them some mid-level prospects.
Stearns appears to have done a great job of bringing in top-tier position player prospects/young guys. Maybe they can the next Fielder/Braun/Hart/Weeks/Hardy group.
Now he has to get pitching.

I hope Bob is still around in a few years to have a chance when they get to that point again.
It's one of the biggest missed opportunities for Wisconsin sports fans to never have Uek call the last out of the Brewers winning the World Series. I think I'd probably play that over and over every day for years if it happened.
47 years of doing the broadcasts and he's never been boring. 47 years and one World Series is a disservice to how good Uek has been.
Tonight!

.
Villar making Carlos Gomez look like a baseball mensa so far this season.
Wily Peralta touched 98.8 mph in his first inning of 2017, per @Statcast. He threw five pitches harder than that all of last season.

This is a little misleading (still encouraging!) because they are using a new method to track speed of pitches, Everyone is throwing harder.

Got win #1 !
Just as important - a well pitched game.
Neftali Feliz throwing 97-99 in recording his first save. Brewers haven't had that kind of gas from a closer since John Axford.

Tough series. Could have easily won 3 of 4 instead losing 3 of 4. Bring on the Cubbies!
