... is a clinched division title.

IF (big if):
Packers beat Lions
Vikings beat Bears (Jennings was hurt near end of Seahawks game)
and PACKERS beat Bears....

we have a two-game lead plus the tiebreaker, meaning all we need is one more Bear loss or a win over the Titans to clinch it.

Merry Christmas.

Honestly, at this point I think I'd rather not see the Packers get a bye. I never thought I'd say I didn't want them to get a bye, but I don't think this team could handle having a week off and then playing the Giants or 49ers again at home. Their only hope to beat those teams is to get hot and keep their edge by playing every week. One thing I really want is to see this team win a damn home playoff game.

I realize that. But if they win out and the 49ers and Giants lose one more, they'll get a bye. I never thought I'd hope they didn't get a bye, but now, I do.
Urlacher pulled a hammy in the OT period yesterday too.
it's not what I want for Christmas but it is what I want for this coming Sunday - for the punks from detroit to leave their cheapshot ways in detroit and display some professionalism just once. I expect the Pack to win, and I don't want anyone on IR afterward because a detroit punk cheapshotted him there.
this is what I'm talking about in my previous wish...

Ndamukong Suh maintains he's not a dirty player, but his actions again have drawn the ire of an opposing player.

The Indianapolis Star reported that Suh and his teammates were seen pointing at, laughing and dancing over the Colts' Winston Justice after the Lions defensive tackle had knocked down the Indianapolis offensive tackle following cornerback Don Carey's interception Andrew Luck in the fourth quarter of Detroit's loss. Justice suffered a concussion on the play.

Ndamukong Suh says his reputation as a dirty player isn't fair, but his actions in Sunday's game left Colts offensive lineman Mike McGlynn angry.

The scene infuriated Colts right tackle Mike McGlynn, who, according to the Star, was seen confronting Suh after Luck's game-winning touchdown pass to Donnie Avery with no time remaining.

"Totally ignorant on their part, just childish stuff," McGlynn told the newspaper. "We're all battling out there; I don't know if the hit was legal or not, but clearly he was hurt, and they're out there dancing and pointing at him and laughing. Just blatant disrespect. They're good players, but there's no room for that. It's disgusting, really."

McGlynn said Colts players would never act that way if a player on the Lions was hurt on a play.

"If that had happened to one of their players, we'd never do something like that. But that's what makes (the Colts' win) even sweeter. That's why they lose. I hope they never win another game," he told the newspaper.

The NFL can review Suh's hit on Justice but first, the league's officiating people will take a look at it to see if there was a violation. Suh was not flagged on the field for the hit. If the officiating crew deems there was a violation, it would go to Merton Hanks, the NFL's vice president for football operations, for potential discipline.

With our injuries to those who should be back this year a bye would be very nice! But, we take what we get and then hopefully we take it all.
Red, WTH happened to the Cards? Have you guys been beset by injuries, or just under-achieving? Shame too, after that hot start to the year.

Speaking of shame, it's a damned shame the way the Cardinals have been wasting some terrific talent on their team while they play QB roulette. I hope you guys get one first, before other positions or coaching changes.
If not by the draft, I wonder if there's any chance you could pry Flynn out of Seattle?

It has been a tumultuous year. Our offense has been putrid. Our OL is the worst in the league as a result of poor drafts (or failure to draft OL in the early rounds), injuries, bad FA signings, etc. Our best OT (he's not that good anyway but he's our best) Levi Brown was injured early and we have been using a couple of rookies and a lousy 6 team journeyman. We just lost our starting center for the season. We have lost our 2 best RB's to injuries (Beanie is back now but gimpy, Ryan Williams is sitting now with his 2nd season-ending injury in a row).

Our QB play has been a joke. Kevin Kolb is serviceable but has been injured repeatedly. John Skelton showed promise last year but is a notoriously slow starter who is hot and cold. He was pulled from the game 2 weeks ago in the middle of the second quarter in favor of Ryan Lindley who proceeded to throw 2 pick sixes in a row. Whiz left him in the rest of the game. Whiz then started him last weekend against the Jets and it may have been the worst QB play I have ever seen. Whiz did not pull Lindley and put Skelton in. The game was winnable but Whiz stayed with Lindley. I am watching Larry Fitz waste away on a team with no one who is capable of getting him the ball. If we had a below average QB we would have a winning record right now.

Our defense is among the best in the league but that doesn't matter when your offense can't do anything. We have been hit hard by injuries but our fan base is now pretty ticked off at Whiz. Whiz took us to the super bowl with a roster full of Denny Green's guys and a rejuvenated Kurt Warner. Once Kurt left Whiz' inability to find QB talent, and his stubborn refusal to adjust his system now has us with 3 seasons in row with 6 game losing streaks. I am sure that the reason for our success in that period is that Kurt improvised out of Whiz' lousy schemes and made plays; his quick wits and release covered up for a bad OL, too. This year we are the first team in history to win their first 4 and lose 8 in a row (we set the record last week at 4-7); we would be 3-9 right now if the Pat's FG kicker didnt shank a 30 yarder. Whiz had trouble managing Big Ben at Pitt, and I have seen similar issues here. He ran Leinart out of town and replaced him with Derek "Scud" Anderson. We are now on our 7th QB since Warner left. Whiz needs to fire our OL coach and our OC but he wont do it. Whiz is actually calling the plays anyways. Who else would call a 1 yard bubble screen on a 4th down and 6 yards on the 10 yard line?

Right now I am hoping that we fire Whiz and send everyone on his staff packing except for our DC Horton, who I hope is promoted to HC. That will not happen since the Card owners are too cheap to pay the $5 million Whiz is due to make next year. Local fans are not happy, and the sellout streak will be ending very soon if this keeps up. Whiz' record is below .500 and drops drastically if you take the Warner years out of the equation.

I am a Flynn fan myself but I think we need to clean house and let the new coach decide, hopefully before the next draft.
Thanks for the reply, Red!
I wasn't aware of the OL situation.
I did know they've had poor QBs since Warner retired, but could never understand why, after the Leinhart debacle was over, they didn't jettison everybody and start all over again. Skelton sure as hell wasn't the answer.
Fitz is exactly who I had in mind when I wrote about talent neing wasted.
Our odds went up, and we have a slightly larger chance of getting #2 seed than the Niners, though they have a greater percentage chance to get the bye and the HATED Seahawks have a better chance to win NFCCC and Super Bowl!

Found on the internet about Justin Smith's injury:

The TV announcers really missed the Justin Smith injury. I didn't hear them mention it until he was coming out of the lockerroom during the game after he had been x-rayed.

I'm not sure if it was all on Justin's injuries but I've rarely seen a team look so bad as the Pats offense did in the first half, and look so good for a long stretch in the 2nd half. Under a lot of pressure, Brady looked ordinary. Reminded me of how Seattle made Rodgers look in a half early in the season.

The injuries -- Manningham, Williams,, Hunter, now Smith -- are starting to mount. The game against Seattle might turn out to be a survival of the fittest. Rodney Harrison said the first Niners/Seattle game was the hardest hitting game he had ever seen.

There's going to be some arching and spraking in the game Sunday. I'm glad it's another Sunday Night game. Who'd a thunk two NFC West teams are the most physical in the league. The eyes of the NFL will be on the NFC West. And Sherman mocking Harbaugh for 'crying' after the first game, and Carrol and JH's animosity, "what's your deal' brohaha, should make it even more interesting.
Prediction time:

We hold second seed. Bears go to San Fran and lay down in the first round. Seahawks go to Washington and destroy them.

Seahawaks go to Atlanta and put Matty on Ice. Pack gets revenge #1 by beating Niners at Lambeau.

Seahawks at Lambeau for NFCCC. We'll get sick of seeing Lance Easley over and over and over again.

You underestimate Washington & overestimate Seattle on the road.

Why does Seattle hold a higher percentage to WIN the Super Bowl than Green Bay?

link

How is that possible unless Green Bay loses to Minnesota and the Niners lose to the Cardinals AND Seattle beats the Rams.

Yeah, they have a higher percentage chance that GB makes the SB but Seattle has a higher chance of winning the SB. They must feel the Seahawks match up better against the AFC teams.
