When Marvin Jones and Stefon Diggs combine for 387 yards against our secondary while our run defense is on a historic pace, seems like we'd want our safeties focused on pass defense.  It made sense to ask Haha and Burnett to play close to the LOS when our run defense sucked but that's not the case right now. Our front 7 is killing it and our CBs can't play man so why ask them to?

If Terrence Williams goes for 150 yards b/c we decide to play our safeties at the LOS, I'm going to lose it.  Let's keep it simple and go with what's working.

Capers said Gunter ended up taking a lot of snaps against OBJ. I wonder if they wonder about Rollins. I do think Rollins was making that pick in the 4th until Victor Cruz pulled his ass to the ground (no call). Would have done wonders for the kids psyche. Either way. Perfect coverage.

Why would they not put Gunter on Beckham? They were going to roll a safety over the top anyway and when the receiver can be a head case, put the press banger on him.

Curious as to why Capers doesn't use Haha and Burnett in this role more consistently.  The LOS looked no different with Burnett and Haha not involved.  Our front seven (or six, since we were in nickel) owned it.  So why not have them play two deep going forward?

Capers main objective has always been to create turnovers. To do so he has wanted to stop the run to get teams in passing situations, in which his pass rush / blitz package would lead to turnovers. This is what his defensive philosophy is based on. Although analytics will tell you that turnovers are most important, a close second is average-yards-per-pass-attempt. So the question becomes; is bringing  a safety up to stop the run and theoretically enabling you to create more turnovers, worth the increased threat of giving up big pass plays?

Agree. It's already on tape anyway. Even if Sam & Demarious return. But then you can {GASP!!} mix it up & potentially CONFUSE Dak Prescott! ZOMG!!!

I think a big part of starting the season with that gameplan was the fact that the starting Safeties and CBs had some solid experience and showed they could play at this level. At ILB though, the starting duo had 5 total starts combined with rookie Martinez and Ryan who didn't exactly tear it up in 2015. I think having Burnett or Haha down closer to the line was meant to help those young players, a decision made easier by the fact that Shields/Randall/Rollins had no problem playing on islands in 2015. Now we are seeing way more reliability from the ILB spot and less reliability at CB, so our Safety duo is needed elsewhere. We may see this 2 deep look more often, I don't think we will see it against Dallas though. I think he will focus on shutting down the run game and force Prescott to pass to win.

The first 2 series GB ran against the Giants was the best prescription for the defense. Long, smothering time sucking drives that kept this young secondary on the sidelines. If only MM wouldn't revert to sandlot football featuring AR and his happy feet, this offense could be stifling in time of possession and just plod down the field for 15 play, 7-8 minute drives.

There is NO reason, NONE, that a healthy Phat Eddie shouldn't be getting 20-25 touches per game.

I'd rather Rip be backup RB based on what I've seen from Starks this year.  He's been bad.  Really bad.  Too bad TT didn't jump on CJ Spiller or Justin Forsett.  Have to think either of those guys would be better than Starks.

Lacy is averaging 5.5 ypc on 54 attempts.  Starks is averaging 1.8 ypc on 24 attempts.  Not good.

AND they're both NOT ASIAN. I hate the break Asian wide receivers get from the press and the fans.

Go ask Micah Hyde about that.
