Writer needs to check his math:

quote:
Every season more than 250,000 high school seniors play football, but only one out of every 10,000 actually makes it to the NFL.

That works out to 25 people from each graduating class making it to the NFL.

quote:
Of those lucky few, about half of 1 percent go on to earn a Super Bowl ring.

Every year 1/32 of the players in the league win a Super Bowl ring.
Tramon was a Reggie McKenzie favorite. Just heard the story this week. Reggie "just had a feeling about him" and couldn't get over it. When the Texans released him Reggie must have been able to get TT to jump.

edit: okay, maybe it was John Dorsey that "had a feeling about" Tramon.

"Our area scout really liked Tramon," McKenzie said. "We thought he had some skills, and wanted to get him at the very least on our practice squad. He worked his tail off, and has made a big impact on our team. It might have been a shocker to the rest of the NFL world, but we knew what he was capable of. For a lot of these players, it's just about getting a chance."

Said Williams: "They (the Packers' front office) just know talent. With all the guys they have brought in, I can't see how they didn't make it on other teams."

If only 25 players come out of each senior class to play on the 53 man rosters, that would be almost 68 senior classes in the NFL at one time. Any 86 year-olds running round out there?

Oh great fudya is now channeling phaderus. Can we start a Big Bang Theory forum?

The math is not well thought out.
How many #1 draft picks are cut in training camp every year? Right there are 32 that make a roster. + other round draft picks and free agents.
I'd estimate a typical team keeps 4-5 rookies on its roster and 5 more on its practice squad. That means between 140 and 300 (depending on whether you consider the practice squad as an NFL career) "make it" to the NFL every year.

We now return you to the Seinfeld marathon.
