@adbrandt
NFL owners unanimously approve sale of Browns to Jimmy Haslam (and his $1 billion purchase price).

Owners also approve allowing agents/teams to talk about players 3 days before free agency. In other words, tampering legalized.

Cartoon bubble over every NFL owner's head this morning at meetings: "If Lerner can get a billion, wonder how much I could get?"

Good time to sell an NFL team: player costs low, labor peace for next 9 years, record broadcast contracts about to kick in.

And related to the Browns sale......

Browns president Mike Holmgren will retire at the end of this season and former Eagles president Joe Banner is being named the Browns new CEO effective immediately, according to league sources. New Browns owner Jimmy Haslam is expected to make the announcement today

Random Red Bull thoughts:

Holmgren is going to be a network guy for a couple years. Then probably takes over for Murphy when he goes elsewhere. I think Murphy is gone once the renovation is complete. Wonder what kind of relationship Thompson has with Holmgren?

With the whole BrINT situation, Holmgren is the kind of guy that might be able to ease him back in so Ted doesn't have to interact much with the family.

Interesting.. I don't follow the admin level, what makes you say Murphy is gone after the renovation?

Wonder if anyone will give Holmgren another go or whether he's actually done in the NFL?
Unless it's strictly as a head coach, he isn't going to get another shot. He's proven conclusively that he cannot run an NFL franchise.

And here we are wailing and gnashing our teeth over Goodell's actions. I bet the owners just love him!
Instead of enforcing the rules already in place, let's just change the rule, OK Mr. Commissioner?
