No way the Seahawks lose next Sunday (they should've beat the Niners last time) and if we beat the Titans, we'll have it, thus setting up the last weekend.

Pack will have something to play for in Minnesota, as will the Vikes, fighting for a playoff spot. AP will also have that record in his sights. Should make for a great game, but in the end I think Ponder will be the deciding factor. We take it and get the bye.

I like your positivity!! The only part of your post I'll disagree with is that the Vikes have something to play for. They'll lose at Houston next week and their playoff chances will be shot. The only thing they'll be trying to do is to get AP to break the record.
I started a new thread and then saw this so I deleted it and will post it here:

OK, if we can have a long thread about whether we want the bye (which personally had me scratching my head)then I think it is legitimate to ask about this scenario.

If the Packers and 49ers both win next week, then the Packers only hope of moving up is if the 49ers lose to AZ which is in the realm of pigs flying right now. The packers will also have locked up the 3 seed. At that point what does MM do in MN.

1) Play for the win with the hope that pigs do fly and the 49ers lose to AZ

2) Sit starters to get them healthy

3) Sit starters for second half

4) Play hard and stack the box to deny AP chance for rushing record

5) Play hard or sit guys in desire to effect who will be the wild card team they face in the first round

Other factors?

What are the tiebreakers for the 9-7 teams? I think there's a possibility of a bunch of teams at 9-7 so this could get messy.

Seattle pretty much has one WC locked up, but there could be MIN/CHI/NYG and either DAL/WAS all tied at 9-7.

that chapped my arse this morning when I looked at their record and it should really be 8-6.... arrrrrggh. Would love to play them at Lambeau and set the record right.
Currently:
SEA 9-5
WAS 8-6
MIN 8-6
DAL 8-6
NYG 8-6
CHI 8-6

Between WAS, DAL, and NYG - two of them would need to finish 8-8 and CHI would need to finish 9-7 for a 9-7 Vikes team to make the playoffs.
Anyone watching that game last night think the Pack have any shot vs. Niners? They are so physical. I actually want the #3 now and hope to keep playing and then go to SF where our offense could be better than in the elements of Lambeau in January.
They'll end up #3 & the Seahawks will be #6.

I'm hoping it's not the Redskins. I really don't want to play vs. RG3 in the first game.

Are you ready for some football?

Man, if the SF beats the Hags, then their is a decent possibility of 6 9-6 teams playing for 3 spots in the last week. What a cluster.
Justin Smith having an MRI on his arm today. SF defense is all kinds of different without him. Last nights game totally swung after he left in the 3rd quarter.

SF has dodged the injury bug this year for the most part. Losing Smith would hurt.
The playoffs look now:

1. Atlanta (12-2) - @DET, TB
2. San Fran (10-3-1) - @SEA, AZ
3. Green Bay (10-4) - TEN, @MIN
4. Washington (8-6) - @PHI, DAL
5. Seattle (9-5) - SF, STL
6. Minnesota (8-6) - @HOU, GB

7. Chicago (8-6) - @AZ, @DET
8. Dallas (8-6) - NO, @WAS
9. NY Giants (8-6) - @BAL, PHI

1. Atlanta will win out. That's a cupcake finish. Finish: 14-2

2. San Fran could easily go into Seattle and lose, but I think they will not only fight for the #2 seed, but also to knock Seattle out. Arizona is a mess so San Fran will dispatch them easily. Finish: 12-3-1

3. Tennessee is a mess, if GB keeps their head on straight they will pound them. Minnesota will be fighting for a playoff spot so that game is not a given. Can't imagine Ponder will do enough to get them a win though. Finish: 12-4

4. Washington can win out. They can take care of Philly and while no one knows what Dallas team will show up, my money is on RG3 for the win. Finish: 10-6

5. I actually think Seattle loses out. I don't think they will beat San Fran, but I think St. Louis will shock them. I'm not buying into the St. Louis hype like the talking heads, but I think they will come in with something to prove. Finish: 9-7

6. Minnesota is going to lose out. They're playing hard, but they need consistent QB play to finish compete with the big dogs. Finish: 8-8

7. Chicago can win out IMO. However saying "Chicago can win out" and "Chicago WILL win out" are two different things. The AZ game will show their mental toughness. If they gets some guys back, I think they can beat down the last two teams. Finish: 10-6

8. Again, what Dallas team will show up? Who knows. I think they play hard and beat New Orleans, but fall in a close one to Washington. Finish: 9-7

9. At Baltimore is going to be tough. The Giants mental toughness is terrible, they ride the momentum. Right now the momentum is down after the beat down they just got. I say a loss at Baltimore and a win at home vs. Philly. Finish: 9-7

So this is my prediction for the shake out:

1. Atlanta (14-2)
2. San Fran (12-3-1)
3. Green Bay (12-4)
4. Washington (10-6)
5. Chicago (10-6)
6. NY Giants (9-7) (conference record is tiebreaker over Seattle)

7. Seattle (9-7) (head-to-head is tiebreaker over Dallas)
8. Dallas (9-7)
9. Minnesota (8-8)

...I was just thinking that last night, SF has had very few injuries compared to teams such as the Packers.

I didn't think there was a way SF would win at NE either. Gonna be a good game for sure next Sunday night.

I thought New England would win, but one thought I had when watching the Patriots play the Texans last week was that they would have a full day and a half less to prepare for the San Fran defense due to playing on Monday Night football. Sometimes that short week really can hurt you. I think it was a combination of that and the fact that they just didn't handle the ball well at all, lots of uncharacteristic fumbles and dropped passes.

If the Pats and 49ers played again, I think the Pats would have a good shot the 2nd time around particularly if Gronkowski is back at full strength. Not having him was huge against a physical team like the 9ers. Gronk is about as good of a physical TE as there is and would have made life much tougher on the 9ers.

They wont sit the starters. MM doesnt make the same dumb mistake twice.

Worse. RG3 is an actual QB with accuracy. All Vick had was blinding speed.

We do have a neutralizer though in Clay. Redskins are the one team I don't want to play but I know we can beat them.

Anyone else in the NFC, I'm not worried about.....at all

This could be huge.
The best scenario is GB getting the #2 seed. If Washington can hold onto their division, NY drops one, and Chicago finishes strong and takes the 5th seed, then GB would avoid NY all together. That's the best scenario for GB. I'd rather travel to San Fran, host Chicago, go to Atlanta, etc. over hosting NY. I don't care how badly the Falcons beat them, they're a dangerous team when they're motivated and they seem to be always motivated to whoop GB.
Be careful what you wish for!

And you can count on the NFL looking like chumps, with all of the signs, about FAIL MARY. That game will be replayed and be the story line going into SEA @ GB. I'd like to see the GB fans embarass the NFL a bit more on that farce of a game.
