β€’Here is some high praise of Packers coach Mike McCarthy from Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: "McCarthy's cutting-edge offense takes advantage of all the rules changes and the strength of his personnel. His demanding, creative coaching has gotten the best from Aaron Rodgers. In moments like these, one should pause to remember just how well-coached the Packers are."

I don't know that another team in the NFL could sustain the injuries GB has in 2010 and 2012 and simply keep rolling. When you look at the calibur of players who have missed starts and then have been replaced by rookies, undrafted free agents or 2nd year players and this team continues to roll you have to stand a bit in awe at the job MM and his staff do.

These "new" starters while not perfect nonetheless look incredibly prepared. It's pretty amazing the next-man-up cliche' is anything but in GB. They mean it and it shows.

Isn't this a contract year for McCarthy? If not this year it's coming up soon isn't it? Either way I'm glad he's here. I remember being disappointed when I heard that Thompson was interviewing the OC for the worst offense in the NFL and then being absolutely shocked when he hired him. I thought for sure it was an experiment doomed to fail. I thought it was a mistake for the HC to call the plays, that the HC needed to focus on being the HC and let his staff do their jobs.

I've been proven wrong by McCarthy so many times and I've never been happier about it.
@Packerpedia
Ryan Pickett: I don't think people realize how good our young CBs are. House, Hayward-those boys can play. And Shields ain't even out there.

@Packerpedia
On Lions 4-and-out at end of game, each pass play was defended successfully by a young DB: McMillian, House, Hayward, and McMillian again.

@Packerpedia
Matthew Stafford completed 43.6% of his passes yesterday, his worst completion percentage in a game since his rookie season.

@Packerpedia
Casey Hayward had a great game yesterday. He got his hands on four of Stafford’s passes, intercepting one and breaking up three more.

@Packerpedia
We mentioned the stat line for Hayward, but how about this for Davon House. Allowed 1-of-5 for 8 yards with a pass deflection
Why is it the pass rush steps up when a key player is missing? Matthews out against Detroit and Moses, Daniels, Neal, etc. step up. Raji out against Houston and Wilson, Worthy, Neal, etc. step up. Why can't they step up when everyone is healthy? Sometimes I get the feeling they're waiting for Clay to make the play or waiting for Raji to get the push, but when those guys are out they step it up.

Wouldn't the equivalent be Matt Forte?

You could very well look at it that way. Then while Starks was also on the PUP, it would be like they're missing Forte and Bush since we were down to Alex Green for awhile there.

And yet GB has rattled off 5 straight wins. Nuts.
Saw a note yesterday that Neal was credited with 7 1/2 QB pressures. I also thought Daniels brought a lot of energy.

The job the coaches have done with a team that was 2-3 before losing Jennings, Benson, Bulaga, Perry, Woodson,and Jordy and CM3 starts. TT has done an incredible job building this roster. The coaches have done a better job getting everyone prepared to step in when needed.

Yeah, you suck. I have always believed in McCarthy.

Shut up, Satori. Smiler

I'll give this to Raji. On a play in the 2nd half yesterday he barreled two Olineman straight back past the QB which allowed the other three to converge and sack Stafford - it was a thing of selfless beauty. Pretty sure it was by design. Raji's good and I'm glad he's on our team. Can't have enough good beef up front.

There definitely was more push from the big inside guys yesterday, but it also seemed that Capers brought a bit more 5 and 6 guys than usual and that they actually got there. It is always frustrating how this team can bring 6 guys and not get pressure which eventually means a big completion. I wonder how well disciplined and intelligent a team like the Lions are. (Probably don't need to wonder much) How often did you see them break off/reroute their patterns when the Packers brought the extra guys? I distinctly remember one play where all they had to do was dump it into the flat where the LB was coming from and the guy could have run all day, instead, the idiot Stafford took his full drop and held the ball until the play blew up.

I had the feeling the Lions were totally unprepared for what the Pack was going to do. They had no recognition of the D whatsoever. Stafford holding the ball too long, receivers breaking off patterns or running the wrong one, linemen not sure where the pressure was coming from, undisciplined routes by receivers, etc. It was a clinic in how NOT to prepare a team or recognize what was going to happen/happening, and a clear illustration of how good GB coaches are. The Lions have talent, but no coaches and discipline to get the most out of it. As much as we gripe about MM's play calling, at least our coaches get guys prepared and coach them during the game. Here's one reason why we have great coaches (also notice the attention by House). Excellent staff. Even (gulp) Slocum (for now).

Raji is a beast.
