Back in April before the draft, McGinn interviewed a scout and an executive from another team. He had the personnel guy look at the GB roster and offer some comments about the position groups. Granted the exec didn't study the Packers extensively as all of you, but he did offer some interesting insight which makes for a good read here in July before TC opens up

"He's just got a modus operandi that is a working formula that works. And it's predictable. The guys that are good at what they do are predictable.

Really? I don't think TT is predictable at all . The only predictable thing is that he'll draft well with the information he has at the time of the selection. That's all you can do.

Depending on context I'd say Thompson is rather predictable from the standpoint of he (outside of Matthews) doesn't tend to make any huge moves but plays it more conservatively. Take last year when the post draft personel guys interviews had them saying Thompson would have been better off making a bigger move to get Reyes rather than the lesser one to get Worthy. TT doesn't (again, outside of Matthews) usually make those bigger jumps.

Packers are in great position at DB;

Enough future talent to one day replace Tramon

Enough current talent to keep Shields hungry for a paycheck while having some leverage

Nice mix too- Hayward a 2nd rounder, House a 4th rounder and both Tramon and Shields are undrafted FA's. Whitt has a lot to work with in this group and I like that at least 3 out of 4 are still ascending in their craft

I have mentioned this a number of times how I once heard Madden discuss one difference between his and Al Davis's sense of priority by position.

Madden:

QB->OT's->CB's

Davis:

QB->CB's->OT's

Unbelievably awesome to me how the Packers are so talented at QB and CB's especially in consideration of the above -and- the investment in terms of draft choices.

Now if only the Pack can fare remotely as well at OT.

Teams that consistantly draft higher can only dream of having the sustained success that Ted does. Dream from heaven.

Losing quality guys like John Dorsey, John Schnieder, Reggie McKenzie, Shaun Herock, etc.... Ted hasn't skipped a beat.

Hope Elliot Wolf has been taking notes. Seriously, can you imagine some of the conversations/meetings he has played witness to ?? His dad, Ted Thompson, etc....what an experience.
