The employees at TJ's Sports Bar & Grill in suburban Atlanta are Falcons fans.
But, when they come to work Saturday, they'll be wearing Green Bay Packers jerseys, orders of the boss.

"They know where they make their money," said Tim Ecclestone, the bar's owner.

TJ's is one of the major gathering spots for Packers fans in the Atlanta area and will be filled with green and gold when the Packers face the Atlanta Falcons in the 7 p.m. divisional playoff game Saturday.

"It'll be a hoot," said Ecclestone, who spent 13 years in the National Hockey League before settling down in Atlanta.

The Packers connection began 20 years ago when a couple of Green Bay fans walked in and asked if they could watch their favorite team on TV in a back room.

"They were cheeseheads probably," Ecclestone said. "But the next week they probably had another 25 people and then it progressed to 50. So we just ended up having it (Packers game) as the feature game every week. Now, on game days, there's 250 strong."

it's a similar scene at the Y-Knot Sports Bar in Peachtree City, Ga., about 20 miles south of downtown Atlanta, where scores of Packers fans can be found on game day.

There also is a pep rally

"Some people come early to get the same table, just like they were season tickets..."

We're among that group.

We've sat at the same table (actually 3/4 pulled together) dead center in front of the HD projection screen in the main room since 1994.

Green Bay stadium blankets as tablecloths, and one of our group collects Packer stuff and sets up a shrine on the table nearest the screen.

By far the best place in the ATL to watch the game if you aren't going to the game.

The servers don't usually wear jerseys, though.

One of the people at our table made it, but unfortunately I didn't.

I was stuck in traffic for two hours going home (usually takes about 35 minutes during evening rush hour) because of the remnants of Sunday's snow storm.

He said it was packed. From an article I read, apparently the manager there was getting death threats (stay classy dirty bird fans).

I'll be at TJ's about 3 PM, and a few other regulars are showing up early so we can play sheepshead (and maybe some poker) before kickoff.
Go Atlanta Packer fans!

I tried to find a Packer bar in Cabot AR last night. Ended up for dinner at the Mean Pig BBQ. Nice. I loved the paper towels on the rack where you picked up your fighting utensils. The 'Shut Up' sauce was everything it was billed and more. As we walked in a young guy was just finishing puking after eating a pulled pork sandwich.

Travelling through Eastern MO and AR gives me the impression if you're a female born from outside the county, there is a premium on you.

We'll be staying in Cleveland, TX tonight. Hopefully we're far enough from Catts.
WOW. I envy you Coach. I haven't played Sheepshead since I left Wisconsin in 1988. Used to play all the time. When I go home now, the same guys are still playing at the same bar, but the stakes they play for are way beyond my means. Don't know how long it'd take me to get back in the swing of the game anyway.

Have a great time today (and tonight)

I didn't realize Falcon fans were dicks like that (giving death threats)

here's a story about the rally

Yeah, and ARod let his hair grow for the week

Yeah, Coach, that's what we used to play for and it was fun. I think now the guys are play as high as 5/10/15 DOLLARS!!! They play at least $1/$2/$3. They are nuts.

We played doublers as well and called an ace rather than leasters

He was here for 2 and a half years. Second half of '03, '04 and '05. There were rumors that Jackson was going to be cut due to attitude problems along with Hunt in training camp that season, but he managed to stick around. That '03 team wouldn't have come within a mile of the playoffs if they didn't pick up Jackson, so I'll always have good memories of him.
