Can't run read option on a regular basis. Everyone knows how to defense it now. A play here and there to catch a D off gard still works but there is a reason you don't see it much anymore.
Apparently MM reads Timesfour. His reply about his challenge: "The information from the box and sideline was to challenge, so it was good game management. I look forward to reading about it in the paper."
I expect nothing less from the highly successful football coach

And quarterback guru?
Well, it was a win.
Hundley can perform in a gimmick-style offense against a mediocre defense in prevent, but not sustaining drives early is an issue for offense and defense.
There isn't much talent left at corner even with Randall playing well. Kizer SoSo isn't a passing mastermind.
Williams runs hard and has become more decisive. He still has no vision but is showing some patience for the hole to open up. Jones has some nice running ability, but seems to lack judgement and the stability of Williams. I still wonder if the Packers would have been better off going for a Kamara/Hunt/Foreman, even packaging a couple of the three picks they spent on backs and the Yancey pick for a better prospect and chased some UDFAs to fill ranks like Clement.
Rodgers covers all manner of sins.
+ Whitehead broken tackle on 1st drive.
+ Adams, consistently getting open and making people miss in open field.
+ Clay was relentless today. Lucky he missed Thomas, but I'll take it.
+ MM continues to script opening drive TDs. Tells me he can coach, problems in the middle of the game are talent issues IMO.
++ Paws
Another ugly, grind it out WIN in OT
O Hundley is who he is (small ball) and MM adjusting gameplan to it
MM going for it on 4th downs
D able to minimize Josh Gordon in 2nd half
Clay QB hit then...INT
ST Davis' big punt return at perfect time
Fake punt conversion
Viking lose
-- Nags
No sense of urgency much of game
O Need a way to get ball down field once in a while
Dom-inator Defense 3rd down follies
D House injured
ST Davis letting ball roll to 7 and 3 yd line on punts. Must be coaching as it happened 2x!
John Dorsey new Browns GM
edit:
Last 2 weeks it was other teams' inexperienced QB making error that cost his team, not ours..
+
A win.
Adams continues to demonstrate he's a playmaker even without AR.
Davis is maddening as a returner with some of his decisions but clear why they're sticking with him.
Hundley's limitations continue to be evident but give him credit for getting it done in crunch time when it matters.
Randall continues to play well.
-
Much more difficult than it needed to be against a winless Brown team.
Defense made some plays down the stretch but was horrible for most of the game.
Doesn't get any easier on the road against a good Panther team. Winning out and a playoff berth still strikes me as the longest of long shots.

The reason you don't see it anymore is the injury-risk to your QB. In addition, it only works if you are running the ball somewhat effectively, making the DE come down on the ball carrier
Another positive was watching AR really involved in the game. This is right before the pass to Adams at the end of regulation that tied it up.

problems in middle of game ar coaching adjustments IMO. The tallant is there.
+ We won. We won ugly, but winning is all that matters. Plus juan in the win column.
+ Pending a bone density scan, the greatest quarterback in NFL history comes back next week, and we have a chance. We can beat the Panthers. And Rodgers will be looking to destroy the Vikings. Do that, and week 17 is a playoff game, and I would bet the house that #12 leads us to victory. I only wish it were the Cowboys we faced in week 17, so Aaron could stick it to Jerry Jones and his liver spots one more time.
+ I have Sunday ticket, so I'll get to watch every pass Aaron makes, no matter who the networks decide to televise.
- House injured again?
-
Hopefully, if and when Rodgers comes back next week, I won't have to read any more BS about how "Davante Adams is more explosive at this point in his career than Jordy Nelson" ever again. Funny how quickly Jordy went to sh#t after grabbing twenty touchdowns in the twenty-one games before Rodgers got hurt. Maybe Jordy broke his collarbone, too, and somebody forgot to tell him.
Or, maybe the talking heads have no clue what they're talking about.
- We still have Dam Copers as our Defensive Coordinator.
Positives:
A win is a win
I really liked the fake punt and I will take a nice return anytime to set up a short field
Adams is coming along and looks like he could be a special talent
Negatives:
The soft as charmin defense at times. Will somebody please make an adjustment and close up the middle of the field? Opponents every week seem to run free on the middle. I think even my old fat butt could run for 20 yards in the middle of that defense
The play on the goal line running that read option or whatever they called. Please don't do that again and get cute down there. As a previous poster said NFL defense have that play figured out.

Exactly, that's how you defense it. Hit the Q whether he dishes it or keeps it. It's what D's started doing, and having better discipline.
texted a friend in the 1st half: "if Trevor Davis wasn't on the team would anyone notice?"
Trevor answered the bell!
+ Packers win! Even though it would have helped the Packers if they won, the vikings lose! A Packer win and a viking loss in the same week brings me great joy. Another positive: the viking fans on social media talking down to Packer fans, yet again, this time saying that we barely beat the Browns while telling Packer fans that we are living in the past when we talk about the vikings never winning anything. LOVE IT! I can smell the collapse. It's coming. Soon.
- After the first series the Packers couldn't get anything going on offense. Why do we have so much trouble with screen plays on defense? Our tackling skills need a lot of work.

Now where did I hear that before??? Oh yeah!! ð
Packer fan at sports bar today: Even if Rodgers comes back this week, there is no way this team beats Carolina.
Me: You underestimate the power of Aaron Rodgers.
+ TD pass to tie game - that was all Aaron Rodgers but I give Hundley credit for doing as he was told. Go back & look at Rodgers talking to Hundley before the play.

Agreed. Hundley made one 'great' throw today and I suspect 12 said 'throw it there.'
Very frustrating to watch the Vikings succeed with their backup Keenum and the Eagles holding on to win after Wentz went down. Does anybody think the Vikings have this record with Hundley? Do the Eagles hold on to win with Hundley? I doubt it. If AR does come back and the Pack still misses the playoffs, this all falls on Hundley and the organization. It will be another opportunity missed with the now-weak NFC.
Heck, the Patriots have traded two back-ups and signed another who would have had this team in a better spot than it is now.
I saw that too Boris.
and YES! MRTUNDRA, exactly. I started wearing my "I support the Green Bay Packers and any team that's playing the vikings" tshirt as my base layer this weekend. thing still has a little magic.
- Ahmad Brooks play. At one point he gets into the backfield and is face to face with Crowell who has the ball, but doesn't make any effort to tackle him and just stands there. He lets Crowell make a move and then just jogs after him.
michiganjoe posted:Another positive was watching AR really involved in the game. This is right before the pass to Adams at the end of regulation that tied it up.
This is exactly what I want my injured QB to be doing. It shows leadership, unselfishness, selfishness (he wants to come back), and the ability to put aside his own ego for the good of the team. If this had been that other guy before Rodgers, we would not have this great picture of a team leader and who knows where Hundley throws that pass? Rodgers doesn't want his season to end.

Love that pic. Everytime I saw Rodgers on camera he was antimated and raring to go. At one point it looked like he wanted to yank the head set off of MM and tell him to sit down that he would handle it from there.
To be accurate there were times in the first half when on camera Rodgers was sitting comfortably by himself and looked like most of us...wondering WTF was going on.
The whole defense, besides Randall, played half ass.

Reminds me of Favre coaching up Rodgers, er no. Nevermind.
To be fair, Rodgers knows Hundley ain't ever taking his job.
+
We won.
Adams.
Williams.
4th quarter resilience.
If Rodgers is ready, the table is set for him.
-
Hundley has no pocket awareness.
Defense played with zero urgency or knowledge that the entire season rested on the outcome of the game.
Crow tastes awful.
