If Manning turned down what was likely a reasonable extension offer from the Bears, he's probably going to want more than GB needs to pay for his returning abilities. The team won't need a starting safety, and that's how he'll be paid.

Also, I'm not sure if he's a natural returner, or if he's a product of a great ST unit. Hester could obviously do his damage with probably any of 32 teams (and a few overlooked blocks/holds), but I'm not sure about the boy named Danielle.
Isnt Manning more of a kick returner than a punt returner.I would also say that TT has not ignored the returner position But he has taken the approach of filling out the roster with the hopes of someone stepping up into the return role. I dont think Manning is worth a bigger than average safety contract.Besides Capers defense is relying on safeties less and less.
