So you guys may know the Packers this year created something called "Packers Life," which in their words "explores the compelling lives of some of the most fascinating, genuine Green Bay Packer Loyalists along with the culture that is truly unique not just in the NFL but perhaps in all of professional sports. Join us to learn just what it means to live the 'Packers Life.' "

Genuine? OK. Loyal? Absolutely. Fascinating? Doubtful! Nonetheless, they interviewed me and my son Adam for their most recent video that profiles three Packer Fan Hall of Fame members. The video is 22 minutes long, and our segment starts at the 14:25 mark and goes 8 minutes until the end:

I thought my 15 minutes of fame with this Hall of Fame thing for sure had been fully used up, but I guess not! LOL I hope you get a few laughs from watching.  Happy Holidays and New Year to all. Oh, and...GO PACK!!!

Awesome and huge congrats Sschumer ! And thanks for the X4 shoutout from Adam at the 17 minute mark, super classy addition.

Steve, your video debut is eloquent and you're clearly comfortable in front of the camera, fantastic job representing Packer Nation. If you did that all in one take, its even more impressive.

Take a bow when your feet land back on the ground....Cheers to you and yours and we're fortunate to have you here at X4

Awesome!  You truly captured the reason we love our Packers!  I am from Pennsylvania and can relate to you regarding being the only Packer fan you know.  I see a couple here and there at bars watching the games, but mostly it is just me and I am fine with it.

Thanks guys!  Very kind of all of you.  Satori, nice of you to notice Adam's shout out about X4.  As I re-watched it, he really DOES tout it as the best site out there!  I didn't realize until that moment how smart a kid I'd raised!  LOL!

So we're about to get an influx of new members?  Better put on some nice clothes then.

Thanks,  but I looked there before.  Closest is 29 miles away.  I have a local bar 3 miles away that has the ticket.  Fortunately,  the Packers are on pretty much for being in PA.

That was awesome to watch Steve!   Congratulations on being chosen to win the most prestigious award a football fan can get.  As Satori said you looked like you've been doing interviews your entire life.

I loved the way you described what makes the Packers special to us fans, you really hit the nail on the head and drove it home.  Fans like yourself and your son are a fine example of real Packer backers and just hearing you describe your love of this team makes me even prouder of my GBP heritage.

I remember hearing about this series a while back and I was afraid it was going to make fun of the die hard, crazy packer fans, I'm really happy that it turned out to be a real tribute and testament of what makes rooting for this team a uniquely gratifying experience.

Thank you for sharing this with us Steve, I really appreciated watching it and getting to know one of the Times Four members outside of the forum.

...and we're making the Bears pay for it.

Steve.

Epic beyond words.

However, the contrarian in me (thanks to Fedya as my senei) needs to share that as an amateur Packer historian one "correction" needs to be made in your talk.

The team did actually change colors---a few times in the 50's to be honest.

Bartmandude, that is so great of you to say!  Along these same lines, I'll post the following from a few friends who emailed me after they saw this Packers Life video that I think you'll appreciate:

Bob Warpinski, an IBM executive who was born and raised in Green Bay, still lives there:  "Steve -- I got misty eyed watching this....you know, the comments about the fans, the friendliness that we think we treat the competition and their fans, the small town stuff, the community, the David vs. Goliath, the clean cut nature, the difference that we think Green Bay is.....can you imagine GB with:   Colin K., Cam N., the boorish fans like Philly, etc.  The Packer impact locally is maybe $200M/year....that is a big deal locally."

Michael Gray (lives in Atlanta):  "Steve, thanks for sending. Loved watching it. It is just amazing all the attention you have gotten. My wife is an equally big Saints fan and she is very jealous. At least you don’t live in one of the other division rival towns. Living in Atlanta with her arch rivals on the TV each night just kills her.  Your son said his favorite thing about the Packers were the fans. We would concur. We have been to almost every stadium and nobody has better fans than Green Bay. Passionate and intelligent about their team but also polite and fun to be with. We bought our Green Bay Stock after attending one of the games in Green Bay."

Bill Carlin (lives in NJ): "Steve, I just took the time to watch the video and it was very well done. You and Adam came across incredibly well with your passion and genuine love of the Packers. Great job!  P.S. I remember when the GIANTS won the Super Bowl in 2007 they had to go into Green Bay and beat the (13-3) Packers and Brett Favre before meeting the (18-0) Patriots. Several of my friends made the trip out for the Green Bay game and the one thing they all told me when they returned was they couldn’t believe how classy and nice the Green Bay fans were after a very close playoff loss. They said many Packer fans came up to them right after the game and congratulated them on the win and wished them luck in the Super Bowl. It is safe to say that would never happen in any other city but especially Philadelphia who has never won a Super Bowl. (Thank God.)"

Maybe the coolest part is you and your son growing up with all this together. That's special stuff. He's going to pass it along as well. Thanks for posting this! Really great stuff.

Very cool Steve, I bet your inbox will be full of similar sentiment over the next few weeks.

I have had the pleasure of bringing some Vikings fans to Lambeau for a game and they all said the same stuff, great fans, felt safe and welcome, and that was 2014 when we kicked their butts up and down the field to the tune of 42-10.  They were wearing Viking helmets with the horns on them and they still had a great time, the fans around us teased them a lot but it was all good fun.

I went to the metrodome a few times and one time when we came back to our seats there was beer spilled and popcorn spread all over them with the Vikings fans behind us saying "enjoy your seats".   We got surrounded in the bathroom while a circle of a$$holes chanted "Brett Favre swallows" over and over again until we left.  Needless to say I definitely did not feel welcome or safe and left thinking that they have the worst fans in the NFL.

Blair Kiel, you're absolutely right.  What I was trying to say and didn't express clearly enough is that in the almost 50 years I've been following the Packers, in what effectively is the "modern era" of the NFL (1960's to date), the Packers have never changed their colors or their helmet design the way many if not most teams have.  Like a lot of other aspects of their history and tradition -- e.g. Continuing to play in an open-air stadium, not selling the stadium naming rights and continuing to call it Lambeau, continuing to play in Green Bay (i.e. not move to another city), etc. -- I was trying to say these are some of the many things I love about the Packers.  Appreciate though your attention to detail!
