Jordan Love recovered really well after the bizarre pick 6.

Find a damn way to get these young dudes like Evan Williams and Edge Cooper more and more playing time on the D. Key reasons they won today.

Narveson perfect on the day including PATs

-

Did Rashan Gary retire and no one told me? Like WTF. The pass rush was horrible against back up OL

Wicks drops are becoming a problem.

+++ McKinney, Kraft, Enagbare (his fumble punch was a huge play).

++ Williams & Cooper have not yet become Packer People on Defense and that is a good thing.

+ Cooper should get as much game experience as possible (and McDuffie should not).

Reed with a big catch (and a bad drop).

Love was much better, after an inexcusable pick-6.

The second half running game was good.

--- Gary and Clark absolutely invisible. AGAIN.

Van Ness not great but he and P. Smith at least hustled into a few tackles.

Wicks can’t catch the ball right now. Sorry, he’s bad.

SO MANY PRE-SNAP PENALTIES ABSOLUTELY INEXCUSABLE IN OCTOBER. THE ONE WITH 7 MINS LEFT WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING WAS NEARLY A KILLER.

@NextGenStats:

Tucker Kraft reached a top speed of 19.70 mph on his 66-yard touchdown reception, the fastest speed by a tight end on a TD this season.

Kraft now leads all tight ends in yards after the catch (172) and YAC over expected (+54) this season.

Pre-snap penalties are an issue and drive-killers. Several from the receivers today and the offense isn't functioning well enough yet to overcome them.

Team missed Doubs today. Believe he would have caught the ball near the end that Wicks couldn't come up with.

Hopefully Romeo comes into practice this week with a whole new mindset. He can be a very big part of the offense. Both MLF and Love know that and let’s hope Doubs does too

+ Kraft is the real deal.

+Nervous Narv made all his kicks.

+Strange week, down early, and stupid mistakes.  However, the team kept it together and did what they needed to do for the win.

5 games in and my feeling about this team is that it does not lack talent.  Drops, miscommunication, pre-snap penalties are a problem, but fixable.

It's a long season.  Getting hot and healthy at the right time is all that matters.

+++  Love.  9 for 9 after the pick six

----   Love, the pick six

+++  MLF  More runs than passes. Kept his word for once

----- MLF Play calling 1st half after the TD

+++ Jacobs 1st Packer TD

------ Pack DL Only 8 solo tackles, only 1 TFL

++++  Jayden Reed   4 receptions on 6 targets

-------  Wicks  2 receptions on 7 targets, 2 drops

+++++  Kraft 4 receptions on 5 targets, 2 TD

------  Musgrave, was he even on the field

Another Pawsitive:

Packers got a road win, a conference win, and exited with no major injuries. Always always a huge plus

They likely get JA back next week. They’ll get Doubs back.

And hopefully Wyatt and Musgrave aren’t far behind

- Run defense is bad.  With Kupp and Nacua out plus 3 backup O-Linemen playing for the Rams, the main job was to stop Kyren Williams and they never really did.

+ Tucker Kraft was the MVP today with Reed and McKinney tied for MVP runner up.

+ For as many wasted draft picks as we have on Defense, Edgerrin Cooper is not one of them.  He’s one of the only front 7 guys with some explosiveness to him.  Let’s hope the Pack finds a way to get him out on the field full time.

As of right now, the Packers defense has no real game changer on the front 7.  Maybe the change in defensive philosophy is more difficult for the guys up front. That's my hope.  Of the guys on the roster, I think Wyatt has the best chance to ascend to that status.

A win is always good, but a few things still cause concern.

Love was generally pretty good once he settled in, but apparently "playground" isn't something the team deals with very well. They seem to have a lot of designed "wrinkles" but improvisation seems lacking, and a good example was on Love's pick from the end zone:

The play had completely broken down and Kraft seemed oblivious. Yeah, it was ugly, but we've seen Rodgers and Favre compete that ball to receivers who were attuned to "what might happen" vs. "what's supposed to happen".  Had Kraft been attuned to what was happening, he could have made a play on the ball, or at least try to knock it down. Instead only McCullough had the situational awareness to make a play.

Reed is good with the ball in his hands, but his hands aren't reliable enough. His drop had the potential to be huge, but they were lucky it didn't cost them the game. None of the wide receivers have reliable hands, which costs them at times.

That falls on Gutekunst as much as the players. He has a "type" we've seen for years now. Watson is a  more fragile MVS. Doubs, Wicks, Melton all have bad drops on film.

The other issue is Gutekunst's overly conservative handling of outside free agents. His previous handling of the safety position and current handling of the linebacker position is frustrating. McKinney has been great, Bullard will probably be pretty good, but before that it was an infuriating mess that cost them games for years. This year, Cooper's injury didn't help, but they had some money and didn't bother getting in some quality above McDuffie and Wilson, neither of whom should be starting.  If you're going to try to compete for a championship, covering glaring holes should be a priority. Look at what Andrew Van Ginkel is doing in Minnesota. His contract was set up to restructure next year but they'll probably try to keep him where he's at.

Their pass rush is also hurting. Rashaan Gary, Lukas Van Ness and Kingsley Enagbare are kind of the same guy: Power rushers without the explosive first step to beat tackles around the edge. Again, Gutekunst apparently has a "type", but they don't offer a lot of variety for teams to scheme against.

We were also told this was going to be a much better, more aggressive defense under Hafley. They are creating turnovers again, but they did under Capers and Pettine, as well. They still seem fairly passive in the first half and when they finally decide to blitz or run tricks they seem to get those guys home. Too often it's still a defense Mike McCarthy would design. Quay, Cooper, Nixon and Brooks would seem to be vying for the #2 pass rusher role.

The Rams are beat to shit, on their emergency LT and a makeshift O-line and without their two premier receivers, and have a ton of even less-experienced guys playing regularly, yet the game was still close. Stafford can still sling it, and McVay's a great coach, of course, but their personnel is pretty limited right now.

Again, a win, against a conference opponent, and on the road is always good, but this team has not hit its stride, by any measure.

++ A win against a conference opponent; it was much needed.

++ If Reed develops more reliable hands, he will be an all-pro sooner rather than later.

++ Kraft getting two TDs; he's become a nice receiver for Love.

++ XM has a nose for the ball, the hands to make those catches, and is willing to tackle. Acquiring XM has to be one of Gute's best moves, and I hope Bullard is learning everything he can from XM.

--- The inconsistency of good/bad Love. He takes them down the field like it's the easiest thing in the world on a drive, then bad Love struggles like a rookie for several drives, and then out pops good Love on another drive to show why they paid him. He has to be more consistent to make a believer out of everyone. That playground throw? That's a rookie mistake. Throw it OOB where no one can get it and live to fight again. Yes, Kraft could have had better awareness, but they paid Love to be better.

--- I think I'm resigned to a defense all season that lives on the razor's edge of "will it hold or not"? Gary isn't getting home and looks ordinary. LVN keeps running past the play or getting washed out. Clark has to earn his money. Hafley hasn't found his footing: I wonder if other OCs are seeing keys that we are not? When he sends more than four, it always seems to be an easy pickup for the other team. If I had more time, I'd watch Quay and the other LBs to see if positioning is tipping off plays.

----------- Effin' Vikings won again. I hate the Vikings.

++ GB won.

No idea wtf Jacobs was thinking on the pick six play. Instead of blocking the blitzer lined up over him, he blocks the defender who is lined up over Walker, leaving the blitzer with a free run. MLF cited a "protection mistake" in his presser. Love should have seen him, but in his defense he thought he had the blitz blocked.

-Love's first half. Am I the only one who thought the throw to Reed for a big gainer was an ill advised throw and they were lucky to complete it?

+Love's second half. He seemed to play more within the offense, taking the chunk plays as they were presented and not trying to get 10 points with one heave. Also, the offense overall is so much better when they balance the run with the pass and not abandon the run. Duh

+ I will take a conference win anytime no matter what the score is

I really like the adjustments they made on offense coming out in the second half. And I think Love is starting to knock the rust off and is getting better

Turnovers.  Damn do I like the X signing even more now that dude can play

- defense.  yes they didn't give up a lot of points but to me they would go in to that soft shell and even Romo was saying that the Rams were playing target practice for a while there.  Thankfully the secondary is showing a willingness to tackle because for the most part the front 7 sure isnt tackling

His problem last year was consistency too until he went on a hot streak.

Seems he and the offense are still having growing pains.

What i have noticed is defenders engaging blockers rather than trying to shed them as the play progresses. Fred Warner doesnt play that way. Makes no sense to me.

Rashan Gary is stealing money. I had high hopes for him with the new DC. Disappointed

+++++ Kraft is a true Packer! Jacobs can run! Taking a win while we are still figuring things out. Evan Williams and Edgerrin Cooper played well and both need to be on the field a lot more. Melton and Heath made catches. The amazing pass and catch from Love to Reed! Xavier McKinney going 5 for 5! Some nice play by Brooks and Wooden on the DL. Preston had a sack. Love after the Pick 6. Carrington Valentine denied the Rams a 2 point conversion.

------Our run defense was porous! We could not stop their run game. The stops we got were on their passing game. Only heard Preston's, Kenny Clark's names called once. I never heard a mention of Gary. Jordan Love's stupid Pick 6. Doubs getting suspended hurts the team. He would have been a better target for Love, than Wicks was. Not much heard from Van Ness, either. That feeling that we were about to get gut punched by Stafford and the Rams, as he moved the Rams down the field, with less than two minutes in the game. Our OL could not block for Love, or our RBs, early on.

Aaron Jones doesn't miss that block.

You're definitely not alone.  It was a stupid pass into triple coverage that just happened to work out.  That doesn't mean it was the right decision.  There's taking chances and then there's dumb throws.  That was a dumb throw.  In his defense, he wore a Favre jersey last week so it makes sense.

LaFluffer mentioned something like "good result, bad read" on that play after the game while speaking with McCarren.

Evan Williams is getting a lot of love but I recall two different plays where he completely whiffed on a tackle attempt.  There may have been more.

I like the potential that kid has though.

- Wicks needs to learn to CTFB 🖕🏼🤬🖕🏼

- Luke Musgrave --- who?? Where?!?!?!

- Packer DL is pretty much ASS. Don't understand what happened from Titans game to the last 2 weeks. Wyatt means that much?? 🤷🏻 + Wooden & Brooks flashed a little.

- No Doubs / Watson / Wyatt / Jaire + Still win. This is the Packer way

+ X-Rated defense - I'll excuse McKinney for missing INT #2 but don't fuckin let it happen again! 😁

+ Did the defense improve when Quay was off the field??

+ EdgeCoop is friggin awesome. It's been far too long since we've had a LB'er like him.

- Gary, guess he got paid so he doesn't have to play anymore. I have NFI what happened to him.

+ Clark made a play because he was unblocked! - Clark didn't make any other plays of note

+ Enagbare forced a fumble.

+/- They're going to have to learn how to win without takeaways and without giveaways in the future.

Wasn't aware that Williams played every defensive snap.
