Id love to see Barrington worked in or Manning reclaimed from SD PS

injuries are concerning, but in all seriousness, the Ravens offense is an absolute joke. Not saying they won't improve, or show more urgency since they're playing the Packers but if we need to rest guys, I'd feel pretty comfortable doing that this week.

Looking forward to seeing if Barrington will get some looks. Thought he was superior to Lattimore in TC.

More from McCarthy

Highlights from Packers coach Mike McCarthy's press conference on Wednesday afternoon:

♦ Casey Hayward is getting better. A little sore after last week. We’ll see (Thursday).

♦ Mulumba got injured in game. Swelled up on him.

♦ Clay Matthews will be (out) multiple weeks. Medical decision to hold him this long. Matthews is our best player on defense, but this is pro football. We’ve been down this road before. ... It’s a medical decision. Every one of those injuries is different. If Clay Matthews had his preference, he would be playing. I would think he would wear a cast when he comes back.

♦ (Outside linebackers Mike) Neal and (Nick) Perry did some good things, Mulumba did, too. Primary position as far as our defensive scheme.

♦ Brad Jones, have no reason to believe his injury will be very long. He won’t be available this week.

♦ Jarrett Bush reinjured his hamstring. You have to look at each individual as far as players coming back too soon from hamstring injuries. We looked at every single one of hamstring injuries.

♦ I’m comfortable with the depth at linebacker. We’ll be ready to play.

♦ (Cornerback) James Nixon is good young football player. Got injured halfway through camp. He was coming on strong. Probably have first opportunity on special teams. He’s an option for return game.

♦ I haven’t been to Baltimore in years. Great stadium, outstanding football team. It’s going to be a heck of a game.

♦ I feel very good about the run game after four weeks.

♦ (Running back Johnathan) Franklin puts extra time in, extra drills for ball security. He’s classy young man. Solid work ethic.

♦ Ravens have had great defense. It’s definitely different than last year. They played well last week against Miami. They’re doing good things on defense.

♦ Neal and Perry, their responsibility has gone up. I want them to focus on playing the way they have been. You want them to build off last week, their best performances of season.

♦ (Linebacker Jamari) Lattimore has played very good football for us. Product of guys playing in front of him. He’s been an outstanding special teams player.

♦ We have a red zone meeting today at 4 o’clock. We’re not going to change the way we approach red zone. It’s not quite where we want it to be, but it’s going to get there.

♦ We need to pick it up on third down on offense. Spent a lot of time yesterday as staff. Like to do a better job of it. Baltimore very good on third down defense.

MM, you don't have to change the way you approach the red zone, it's how you're trying to get through it to the end zone that has to change!

If anybody wants to see what's up in Raven-land, sportspyder has links to all kinds of different news sources

Packerboi found this website awhile back and you can set it up for any team you like

Its a nice catch-all location and each week you can read about the Packers upcoming opponent if you're interested

For the Wed injury report he was listed as OUT... but I don't think that necessarily meant for the game. He practiced in pads last week Thu (I know this now ) but ended up as OUT on the Friday injury report. Time will tell...

Out today: Bush, Starks, Van Roten, Matthews, Mulumba, B. Jones.

Also, Ryan Pickett appeared to drop out of practice. We'll check on his status after practice
MM: Ryan Pickett had a hand bruise and returned to practice

Casey Hayward (hamstring) is officially listed as a "limited" participant. Pickett (hand) also limited.

McCarthy: Hayward bounced around, looked good ....Not sure on when he'll play.

MM: Andy Mulumba, it will be important for him to get out there tomorrow. Tomorrow will answer my concern level
McCarthy on Derek Sherrod: "Week 1 or 2 felt his workouts went to a different level." Sherrod will be cleared to play this season.

MM: I hope it won't be (multiple weeks) with Starks. He's getting close. I'm told he's feeling better

Here is PFF's take on the Packers- Ravens match-up

Lots of good stuff in here including this reference to the Packers use of 3-1-1 formation on offense. This is what Sitton talked about too in the radio broadcast that titm linked earlier.

GB uses 3 WRs to spread the field and runs with a single back ( no Kuhn) and one TE.

This is where they are having the most success

https://www.profootballfocus.c...ckers-ravens-week-6/

"The biggest factor in the Packers’ improvement has been the ability to run the ball when spreading the field. With three or more receivers on the field (which they have done for a league-high 90.3% of their snaps), the Packers are averaging an astounding 6.1 yards per carry. In more standard run sets, they average just 2.9 YPC (excluding kneeldowns).

All that said, with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback there is no doubt this is a pass-first offense and will continue to be such. However, Green Bay’s success will soon force opposing defenses to choose between stopping the run, and continuing to drop in coverage while trying to slow down the running attack."

Ravens run defense is very stout, led by Haloti Ngata. Will MM try to ram it down their throats or run wide and tire them out ?

Barring probable; Bush questionable; Hayward out; B. Jones out; Matthews out; Mulumba probable; Pickett probable; Starks out; Van Roten out

McCarthy: Feel good about linebacker depth. Barrington needed day off, feel he'll be ready for Sunday.

McCarthy: Ravens very good football team. we're focused on what they've done on film, prepared for crowd noise.

MM: Hayward is further ahead than he was last week. Not ready, will do testing process on Monday. Will have info Tuesday morning.

MM: Very proud of Jolly; unique individual; attitude and edge to team that is contagious; playing good football.

MM: Jolly is big part of run defense success. Depth of D-line has been deeper than its been.

MM: Matthews injury is 3-4 weeks. Injury in area where you have to be smart.

Packer fans like Chilli Jon and others will get to see Safety Michael Huff on Sunday

I know he was a popular player during free agency and wasn't too expensive

If both teams play at their best, it could be a very good game--both teams are faily evenly matched.

There's no reason our offense shouldn't be able to move the ball all day long...IF they show up. If it's the sputtering, hit-and-miss offense that has a hard time scoring points, it will be much tighter.

The same hold true for the Ravens, really. We have the better rushing and passing attack, but Flacco excels at the short-yardage pass, and that's where we're most vulnerable on defense.

They have the advantage of better LBs, possibly the front 7 overall. I'd look for the Packers to have a game plan similar to Detroit, and try to neutralize their D line.

We should be able to generate some TO's on defense, and I expect Flacco will see plenty of pressure all game long.
