Kuuuuuuuuhnnnnnnn!!
John Kuhn 2nd best in the NFL
quote:

Yes, the Green Bay Packers have a bona fide cult hero on their hands. When (formerly) little-used fullback John Kuhn rumbles onto the field, fans can't help but drag out the vowel in his name. His name and performance have appealed to Packers fans all season. Rodgers refers to Kuhn as the ultimate "security blanket," a no-frills ball carrier who gets results.

Kuhn, in fact, has emerged as one of the most efficient running backs in the NFL this season. He has converted 25 first downs on 80 carries, including 8-of-9 on third-and-1, and has the league's second-best conversion rate (31.3) among running backs with at least 25 first downs.

Overall, Kuhn has 31 first downs on 94 touches this season. Last Sunday, he doubled his season scoring output with three touchdowns in the Packers' 45-17 victory over the New York Giants.

Another Nail.

Yep.

He won me over in the preseason.

It's good to see the coaching staff (finally) start to use him more often in situations that play to his strengths.

He's money in short yardage, and you can you use him as a tailback to hammer at the end of games with a lead.

The ball security (knock on wood) between him, Jackson, and the other backs has to be at (or near) the top of the league.

No true "home run" threats, but still a good group of solid backs that can also catch the ball well, pick up a blitz, and can also keep a defense honest and move the chains when given the opportunity.

Right now we have a good 3rd down back and a good short yardage back. Nance also looks like a power back. I wonder if we could wear defenses down with Nance/Kuhn, but it hasn't happened yet.

I don't think we'll have a RB with homerun ability unless Starks miraculously turns it on in practice and then in the playoffs. In the meantime, the Packers should keep pounding it like they have the last two games to keep the defenses honest. Maybe we'll draft/acquire a quicker, more versatile RB in the off-season, but we're going to have the ride the horses we've got until next season.

Three months late to the party, but congrats.

Just curious. Who did the Packer's run on the pivotal short yardage carries against the Falcons.

Nance (before his concussion) and Rodgers.

Why Kuhn wasn't used is inexplicable to me.

Nobody said you had to.

Fortunately, what you do or don't "hate" has no bearing whatsoever on the effectiveness of the offense (including play action which isn't supposed to work when a team has crappy, crappy backs like we do).

It appears that MM has finally figured out how best utilize his backs (it seemed to finally gel @ New England), and the OL is playing better since the Detroit debacle.

Both of those factors combined bodes well for our post-season chances.

Since the NE game I've felt like our running game is more of an enforcer role with the bonus of yards. The running plays are so the OLine and our FBs can beat up on the defense - getting yardage is a bonus. And I'm loving it. If Quinn/Kuhn/Nance can get some early licks on Urlacher and Briggs and actually inflict some pain I think we'll see the bores fold up the tent pretty quick. That's a pretty big if but it would be beautiful.

Seahawks running game on verge of franchise-worst season

RENTON β€” The Seahawks are running out of time in this season, and they're running out of options on an offense that is preparing Charlie Whitehurst to start the most important game of the season.

The one thing Seattle is not running? The football. At least not effectively.

That has been the one miserable constant this year, something that was as true when the Seahawks were 4-2 as it is now that they've lost seven of the past nine games.

Marshawn, Breno (cut twice currently on 53 man roster), and Barbre doll (cut) have not been able to turn this around yet.

I checked and Kuhn had zero carries. Jackson averaged 2.6 yards/carry and Nance had one carry for zero yards.
