I hope they're working hard with Finley's agent and Wells agent to get them signed immediately. I expect Wells to be the next one signed.

I'm sure Thompson has a lot interest in re-signing Finley, but I wonder if Finley has interest in re-signing with GB? With so many weapons, he's not getting the stats he's probably capable of putting up. I wonder if he would prefer to go somewhere where he's the primary receiver, the Antonio Gates, instead of being the complement to Jennings/Nelson/Jones/Driver. I have a feeling if Finley doesn't get signed before free agency, it won't be because the Packers don't want him.

Im afraid to ask. Please tell me Rosendouche isn't his agent.

Finley was a very good decoy today. Didn't put up big numbers but he allowed guys like James Jones, Driver, Nelson to get open.

I just wonder how far TT will go to extend him. My guess is as good as Finley is he will not sign him to a Synderbrenner/Al Davis type contract.

Still could franchise him unless something was changed in new CBA. Top 5 avg for TE can't be too bad.
The Packers are in control as far as Finley is concerned. Even if he wants to test free agency, Ted can slap the franchise tag on him. The number is pretty reasonable for tight ends.
I saw one play where Finley (Pretty sure it was him) chipped an outside rusher on knocked him flat on his ass...

I think Finley is good enough where you just franchise him if a deal can't get done. He's worth Gates money. There's no way in hell he gets out of GB.
http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnor...kers-latest-new-deal

The deal is worth up to $13.35 million over three years, a bit more than the $9.4 million deal the Packers gave receiver James Jones this summer, and provides further indication that Nelson is slowly transitioning into the Packers’ No. 2 receiver role.

Good deal....We have our #2 and #3 receivers signed for the next three years at a total of about 22 million.
can't really argue that....pretty much a bargain group in the grand scheme of things.

I just can't get past the fact I think Finley is too much of a dum dum to invest long term...big $$

He has probably the best hands but Logan Mankins type YAC every time he catches it.

Good call. You know TT wants to resign Finely, but I also assume Finley will want to be the highest paid TE in the league....and if he finishes strong this year, that will still only be one good year in the league. I can't see TT breaking the bank to sign him.

Hopefully Finley will realize what he has as a QB in Rodgers. He may want to be the best TE in the league, but what are the chances of that happening if your QB is Orton....or most of the other QBs in the league.

good point about Finley. Here is what he said after his quiet game today

Finley plays decoy role

quote:
Finley admitted it was tough to go from three touchdowns to three barely noticeable catches. He said it's going to be hard to stomach that if it continues.

Asked if it was a compliment that he drew two guys all day, he said, "Not really. I want the ball."

Finley said he hopes the coaches come up with some answers for the double teams so he can remain a big part of the offense. Against the Broncos, he stayed split out where he's more vulnerable to double teams.

"I'm not being selfish, but we'll have to come back and dial something up," he said. "You have to get your playmaker the ball in games when it's close. I can be the bull when everything's going wrong."
Finley isn't stupid. His next contract isn't gonna be based on the whether the Packers win or lose. It'll be based on the # of catches, yards and TDs he has this season. If he don't get the ball, his payday starts to shrink.
I previously had Jordy pegged as more of a #3 guy but he's really elevated his game and that's a great move by TT.

I guess it depends on what his priorities are. If he wants to be the focal point of the offense and the highest paid TE in the league then maybe GB isn't the best place for him. If he wants to play with the best QB in the league and be in the championship hunt every year then it is.
JMike, how much money do you really need? Isn't playing in football heaven with a great team and a great QB worth something to?

I'll bet he lights up the Falcons next week. He's truly the X factor in that game as he wasn't around back then and I don't see how the Falcons, even with double teams, can stop him.

Exactly PackLandVA. He's going to get his catches and TD's. I knew he would have a big day vs. the Bears because great TE's shine against that defense.

Vs. Denver they had him doubled all day. That's ok, that means Jordy and Greg were singled up. It's a beautiful thing. The game will come where Greg is doubled. Guess who will be open all day long when that happens? Meanwhile James Jones & Randall Cobb have nobody on them. Big Grin

Even Starks out of the backfield on a swing pass. Tough offense to beat.

Glad Jordy is signed. Finley will get his. I hope he wants to stay in Green Bay because he will be the man here.

Finley's not gonna get the stats he's probably capable of playing with half the lesser QBs in the league either. it'll be interesting to see how this plays out. bottom line for me, I'd love to keep him as long as he continues to be a team player and not twitter or mouth his way into distraction. I also believe this team can succeed without him (since it's been proven). He's a very fine luxury to have.
From this morning:

@JermichaelF88 (Jermichael Finley):

I’m getting blown up so I’ll just say this, I just gotta do my job properly and that contract stuff will all work itself out I promise you!

I’m trying to get better every week as well. 1 year ago I hurt my knee and the road to recovery was difficult but rewarding...

I’m thrilled to be back out here competing every week, and I can’t wait to play in ATL this weekend on SNF! Focus is on Family and Football!

I think he stays with the Packers.
Whoda thunk they would lock up both Jones and Jordy for just under $23 million? I'd have thought they'd each get more than that on the open market. I wonder if they're somewhat undervalued around the league because they're playing with AR or if they really do look better than they are because of everything around them. Either way, it's obvious TT and MM are not going to let the skill position tallant around AR run dry - great move.
TT is all about drafting and developing football players. His history shows that he likes to keep his own players. In Finley's case, he has developed into what is probably the best TE in the game and will only get better. Blue chipper.

No way this guy leaves GB. Zero chance.
I would seriously consider making him the highest paid TE in the game right now. If he and/or his agent don't step up then the Packers know what to expect when FA comes around. Then hold the tag over their heads.
