Swear to Allah, back in 6th grade or so approx 1959 a kid evidently did not know what a jock was or what was its purpose was.....he put it on backward in the locker room  surrounded by the rest of his male classmates.   Needless to say he was ostracized from that moment on, I would guess he never recovered.

The rash of injuries that this team has suffered is perplexing. It may be due to equipment but I doubt it is the only reason. MM has added tracking, reduced practices, enforced hydration methods and changed practice itself. To little or no avail. Something is amiss. I don't know what it is and my guess is that MM doesn't either.

In fact our players often seem to be a bit sluggish out of the gate. Maybe it's simply time to just go back to longer practices and practice like they would play in a game. Maybe its time to go out ready to play and not be over-consumed over the worry of practice field injuries. I have no data to support this thought but I remember my old Karate instructor who felt that it was better to be exhausted in training with its bumps and bruises than to not be ready for competition.

But, what do I know?

You could go back to "the way it was," if only the CBA would allow it in training camp. The new rules in place designed to protect the players from overwork and injury in TC may be actually causing more injuries than preventing during the regular season.

Agree, not to mention it takes longer for rookies and new players to get properly prepared for the NFL.

I can understand that we don't want to go back to the 60's style training methods but as you said the new CBA may make things worse.

I think I read that MM has backed off even from what was allowed.

Can't have a discussion about injuries and missed games without mentioning the ultra conservative approach GB and Dr McKenzie take towards injured players.

Are players on other teams cleared to play when McKenzie opts on the side of caution?

You make a good point Chili.

I really don't know. Equipment, training methods, medical staff or just plan bad luck. It sucks. It does seem odd that we seem to have more of it than other teams. Does being more careful make things worse? Beats me.
