Yep, he's a prime example of why the knee-jerk calling for heads isn't always the best approach. ST were a legitimate strength this year, Mason's yips aside.
Clearly Mason had trouble this year on the longer kicks (2 of 9 over 50 yards), but he was no world beater under 50 yards either (19 of 24 - 79%). He's slotted to make $3.15mm in 2013, can't see them just giving him the job and that cash. He'll have to earn it. $2.4mm is the base so keeping him until TC costs them $.75mm.
