Slocum's first two years sucked, but his last two have been pretty good. He must have just needed time to grow into the job and forget everything he was taught by Mike Stock.

Ginger has been amazing. Cobb really energized the return game. Having above-average players on coverage teams helps (thanks, TT).

If Missin' Mason Crosby would have at least been average and take out that dum-dum punt return-pass play vs. the Bears, the overall ranking would have been much better.

Yep, he's a prime example of why the knee-jerk calling for heads isn't always the best approach. ST were a legitimate strength this year, Mason's yips aside.

Clearly Mason had trouble this year on the longer kicks (2 of 9 over 50 yards), but he was no world beater under 50 yards either (19 of 24 - 79%). He's slotted to make $3.15mm in 2013, can't see them just giving him the job and that cash. He'll have to earn it. $2.4mm is the base so keeping him until TC costs them $.75mm.
