Just heard Adam Schefter on local Denver station and he said the Packers are close to signing WR King off the Broncos practice squad.  Said, that King's locker was partially cleared out this afternoon.   For what it is worth...

Apparently the Packers were very interested in King and scouted him heavily before the Broncos landed him.

A report from USA Today and ESPN suggested the Packers might try to sign Denver practice-squad receiver Tavarres King, a fifth-round pick in April’s draft, but it appears that fell through.

A separate ESPN.com report quoting King’s agent, Brian Mackler, said the 6-foot receiver wasn’t going anywhere, a sign the Broncos might have done something to keep him.

With Broncos' rookie receiver Tavarres King on the practice squad, the Green Bay Packers made an attempt Monday to lure him away to their 53-man roster. The Broncos, though, engaged in discussions to try to keep King, whom they drafted from Georgia in the fifth round.

"I'd like to stay here," King said. "But we're talking about a spot on the 53. It's a business. We're still trying to sort it all out. We probably won't know until (Tuesday) morning."

I could be rong, but I thought bringing up a guy from the PS meant you had to guarantee him at least 3 weeks on the roster, or at least 3 weeks of normal game checks? If so the Donkeys owe king for 3 game checks (without ever suiting up) which is quite a bit more than what they get on the PS. I guess horse face really did not want to lose him to GB, or anyone for that matter.

You are correct.  Here is an excerpt from this spot I found on a search:

"Finally, if a player is promoted from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, that player must remain there for three weeks and get paid the minimum salary for their status. If they are let go before the three weeks, they still receive the three weeks pay."
