We should get Lazard back next week.

Gary showed a little sumthin-sumthin.

Bak got paid, just in time for Xmas.

Amos did a nice job.

AR throwing for 325 on a super windy day.

MVS showing up again.

Dom is no longer in GB.

-

Pettine is in GB.

Uninspired performance all around.

Duhvante's gotta be smart with the football.

Opie can't be shankin' punts like that.

+ MVS.  I don't recall any drops and that INT was not on him.

+ The refs.  Thank God they called holding on that Robinson TD, I don't think it really was.

- Everything else.  What a pitiful pathetic effort today in particular by the O-Line and the Defensive Front 7 for 58 minutes of the game.  I'll give the front 7 credit for stepping it up the last couple minutes, but come on, that was a horrible performance.

- As the game went on, I found myself wondering how much cap space we could save by cutting Billy Turner, Preston Smith, Burks, Kirksey, Lowry, and a lot of bottom feeders that have no business being on an NFL field but are playing for the the Pack right now.  We'll have to wait until the off-season for potential cuts, but wow what a horrendous effort today by many.

Playing without 2 starting CBs the defense gave up only 13 points, 7 of which were a direct result of the offense's turnover

Just watched LaFleur's presser & he was pissed about the lack energy ....I see it as a positive that he was not happy after a win

-

Punt teams were brutal, almost lost the game because of that unit

run blocking was poor

third down offense was below average.

Positives

1. The best thing for the playoffs this year is that the defense made the stop at the end of the game.

2. Related to #1, Music City pointed out in the game chat that MLF likely called timeout when Pettine was planning to rush 3 guys and play prevent on 4th and 26. MLF seemed to overrule that and tell him to rush 4. I like the aggressiveness which will be even more important against the good, veteran QBs they'll see in the playoffs.

3. MVS. His hands are still an adventure, but if he can just continue to be a deep threat, that's really all they need from him.

4. Kenny Clark against the run.

5. For the most part, their backup CBs held up.

Negatives

1. Sternberger looked almost unplayable. Really poor effort blocking and some pre-snap penalties. A TE drafted in the 3rd round has to be better than what he's shown.

2. Other than Ervin (1 catch for 3 yards), the WRs other than Adams and MVS were shut out. They really need Lazard back.

3. A. Jones is a great back, but he's not the guy that is going to get you 3rd or 4th and short. If Dillon isn't getting some of those carries towards the end of the year, they wasted a draft pick.

4. Really poor ball security by D. Adams today. He made a great catch on that TD, but other than that he didn't make anyone miss and dropped two passes today besides the fumble.

5. The long punt return was bad, but that happens sometimes. The bigger concern is the utter inability to fair catch punts. Josh Jackson was their best option back there today. Ervin looked shaky. Maybe just let Jackson make his contributions there.

I thought the defense was actually pretty poor today.  They were bailed out by a rookie backup QB that missed some throws and had a fierce wind to deal with.  The D really put very little pressure on him until the end of the game.  I'll give them credit that the last 2 minutes they did finally get some pressure, but before that, very little pressure on the rookie, and I thought just overall the front 7 was very poor at trying to shut down Robinson.

They put that little amount of pressure on a guy like Rivers and he'll destroy them next week even if the Pack gets their starting CBs back.

Being outphysicaled will not last long in the postseason.

IND is going to be rough.  Rivers picked this D apart last year and this time he'll have a decent D behind him so he won't even have to put up 40.  IND D is also physical.

Positives - it was a win. 7-2!

Negatives - by the time we get to the Colts game it will be almost two months since we saw a quality game vs a quality opponent. They need to have a great week of practice and get some of these guys back on the active game day roster. I've heard enough of this lack of energy shit. Beating the Colts would be a great start of showing you are more than a decent team feeding on bottom feeders.

Positives — We didn’t have Buck and Aikman on the call.

Big Bob Tonyan.

Amos interception.

7-2!

Negatories — Losing Swervin’ Ervin.

Where was Za’Darius???

Tackling.   Or in today’s case technically “imitation tackling.”

Playing down to an opponent that we should have soundly beaten.

Not making a cold and windy day at Lambeau a factor in our favor.  The warm weather Jaguars looked more comfortable out there than our guys.

ESB is a waste of roster space.

I can’t help but wonder what would be if Josiah Deguara had been able to play the whole season.

+ It's a win
+ A handful of guys made plays when they needed to

- Idk what it is about this team-maybe this is the case on many teams- but it seems once a unit gets lethargic, it bleeds into the other 2 units. They talk a lot about chemistry and locker room cameraderie, and while none of us can know if that pulls them through games like this, it seems as if they either take teams for granted, or take a good long while to realize a stiff test. Today, it was a 1-7 team at home. Two weeks ago it was a 1-5 division rival at home. Mid November at Lambeau should be the time they decide to put the screws to teams like the Jags.

The last week or two I've started wondering what this defense's max potential is. They start the year without KC, or lost him early. They let go a lb who had strong points and a major weakness, the signal caller of the unit. They've had lb injuries, they've had secondary injuries. They've had guys playing outside their roles. With all of that, they're 7-2, yet I think it's probably nearly unanimous opinion that this defense cannot get it done the way they have looked this season.

So what do you guys see happening should all or most of these injured guys make it back by December? King, Jaire...Kamal Martin was back today, Preston still has a pulse even though hasn't come close to his production from 2019. If they get healthy down the stretch, and are able to place guys back in their intended roles, could there be any improvement enough to compete in the playoffs? Or are we too far down the road already and must live with the slop they got right now?

LaFleur said it best the week after the Vikes game "we have some great players on defense .... they just have to play like great players" . Alexander may be the only player on defense who is playing better than they did last year.

Maybe about the only hope I have is if King and Alexander are both out there and 100%, maybe Pettine is a little bit more aggressive?  That said, the front 7 just doesn't look as good overall as they did last year and even last year they were just maybe slightly above average.  This year they don't look like they are even average in that front 7.  And it's not just that Martinez is gone, it's both Smiths and Clark all underperforming what they were last year.

It's taken a little of the enjoyment from watching this team knowing just how meek and soft that front 7 has really been for a majority of the season.  Like I say, maybe the one hope is that if both CBs are back, maybe they do some more aggressive schemes, but it has been pretty disappointing to see the step backwards the D has taken this year.

Neg: When you play like dog shit.....

Pos: but still get a win in the NFL

Neg: You're not a Championship foot ball team.

Pos: When MVS is your best player....

Neg: And your HOF QB plus #1 NFL WR turn the ball over

Pos: You still get a win in the NFL

How much money should I bet on the Colts??

Thing is, they got shredded a year ago even with King and Jaire. It would be different if these guys were creating turnovers. Someone made the point about Gute constructing a team for domes/ideal conditions. If they're simply not a physical defense, what good is HFA at all, regular season or playoffs?

I watched a good portion of Steelers/Bengals, and that Pittsburgh team looks like they shifted into gear today. Defensive pursuit, solid tackling, swarming to the ball. I can't figure out what's worse on this GB defense- the fact that they can't even locate the ball once a rb gets to the second level, once a wr flashes open short for catch and run- or the piss poor tackling efforts we see every week. They get outschemed and outhustled on the regular.

I've seen no upside to Pettine's work compared to a year ago. And injuries or not, how tf can he begin to explain the regression?

Positivities

  • I think we currently have #1 seed.
  • MVS stepped up in a game when we needed him because Adams had an off day.
  • Gary making game impacting plays in crunch time.  I keep saying it, he’s a better option than Preston and should be seeing the majority of snaps.

Negatives

  • Coaching, game plans on both sides of the ball sucked today.   Way too pass happy early on Offense.   ABM playing zone and rushing 3 on crucial downs.  I get we were missing our CBS but you can’t let the inexperienced QB get comfortable.   We’re lucky he sucks ans missed a lot of throws.

A win.

Might have been MVS's best game as a Packer.

-

Another home game with a lack of energy. Good to see MLF address it and he needs to find a fix.

Two horrible mistakes from the team's best offensive players. That and a poor ST play is what kept it close.

The defense. Yeah, they made the plays at the end but they also got a break from a rookie QB who missed a lot of available plays. Lack of any real pressure on the QB for most of the day was a serious issue (along with the porous run defense).

You summed up a lot of my thoughts about the defense.  Meek and soft is a great way of putting it when we see other teams playing physical defense.  I will give ABM a little bit of a break with missing his top CBs but still a good DC will  have his players playing physical smack you around football.  All that being said I am still on the fence on if its the lack of talent or if its coaching?  I am thinking it is somewhere in between.

Positives:  7-2!

This team is going to get the absolute best from whomever they play and getting a win no matter how ugly is a win.

+++Gary and Z showed up late to seal the V.

+++MVS was our best WR yesterday.

+++7-2

+++Rodgers' hiding the ball on that play action pass fooled the Jags.

--- Special teams play. non existent returns, Opie's defensive play.

--- Packers playing down to the inferior teams' level, once again. We should have beaten these guys like a drum, but gave them life, all game long.

---Running the ball into the teeth of their D Line. Lots of room outside, for a speedy Jones, on a lot of run plays. Where was Dillon? Is he on Covid protocol, or something?

---The anti Packer TV announcers in Brock Huard and Greg Jennings made me want to gag. Let them do viking games only, from now on. It's where their they belong. They made me feel better about listening to Aikman and Buck cover a Packer's game.

I don't have a problem with Brock Huard.  I think he brings some decent insight.  Greg Jennings commentating is like watching MVS catch/not catch a pass.  It's just awkward.

+ It was a bad weather game. Good thing there won’t be any more of those in Green Bay the rest of the season.

Right.  Don't want to lose that HFA.  I wonder if the empty seats will be louder in January.

Agreed Henry.  Jennings just seems a little shaky as an announcer to me.  Maybe as he gets experience he’ll get better, but he sounds like he struggles to find something worthwhile to say at times.

He has an outgoing personality but it doesn’t come across well as an announcer, at least not yet.

They mentioned it on the broadcast, but MVS TD look slow, weirdly slow.  It's not like the TD was in doubt and it was a great play, but it looked so slow

Rodgers mentioned the grass was wet and long. We did see a fair amount of slipping.

Soft.  The word I used yesterday as well.  Why does it seem when the Packer ball carrier gets tackled, they fall back.  When the Packers tackle a ball carrier, they go forward.  Yes, I'm using the term "Packers tackle" loosely...

I watched it again, it did look slow but MVS ran 78 yds AND sideline to sideline 100+ yds with a pause for ref to block, err fall b4 taking it to the house.

Funny to see 1 Jax DB shove ref into turf and other 1 leapfrog him.
