The frustrating thing is our pass rush squeezed the pocket a lot today.  Just misses the next gear to get home.  They were close often while Darnold still had the ball.  They desperately need that one guy you can rely on getting home or drawing doubles so other guys can win.  Someone like a Miles Garrett.

Boris , they aren't good enough.  0-5 in statement games.

Yup. Guess the season is over.....

Should we start the draft thread? It's in Green Bay in 2025.

Happy New Year 🎊 🍾

+  Sixteen games into his rookie season and Cooper is already the second best defensive player on the team.  And he outplayed McKinney today.

+  We likely won’t have to listen to any more nonsense from the media about how nobody wants to play the Packers in the playoffs.

+  Today was probably a much needed reality check for a very young team.  They’re capable of playing better and I think they will starting next week.

-  No pass rush.  Again.  I don’t get it. I know Jefferson is amazing but send the house early and often.  Maybe they burn you once or twice but Darnold needs to know that every pass he throws for the rest of the game is going to hurt.  Otherwise, he’s throwing darts all day because he’s comfortable.

-  Jacobs and Kraft need more touches.

-  Just really tired of Jaire and Watson missing games.

I can assure you the Eagles will not be worried about playing Green Bay.  They would be a lot more concerned playing an unpredictable Washington team.

The Lions or Vikings will treat GB like a bye week if they get to play them again.

Positives

Made a nice comeback

Bullard led us in tackles, and wasn't expected to plays as of Wed.

Cooper four TFLs (but lined up offside on pivotal missed FG)

Jacobs 4th quarter TD run was amazing -  (but got called back due to holding call)

Played the run well as MN averaged 2.7 yards per carry

Loss doesn't REALLY matter - 5, 6 or 7 seed, either one,  we have to win on the road multiple times to get to New Orleans.

Negatives

Played a terrible first half - offense looked lost.

Had little or no pass rush which allowed Darnold to look like Dan Marino

LaFleur choosing to go for it on 4th and 2 in 1st quarter...take the points on the road Coach.

Cooper lining up offsides and allowing a redo on a missed FG. Unforgivable.

3rd down defense was not great (6/12)

+ Coop (stud)

+ Hafley (I like the aggression despite the inability of anyone to get home or anyone to make a play in the secondary)

+ Injuries (besides Anderson, did anyone else get dinged?)

- Secondary (I know they have their share of injuries, but feel free to contest a few more catches)

- Love (I'm glad he's more of a pocket passer but sure miss the element of #12 moving the chains with his feet if he had to)

- Lafleur (What is this, year 5?  Lots of dumbfuckery for someone of his tenure.)

+Packers are in the playoffs

+ No major injuries today

-Five years in it's pretty clear that MLF is a basic bitch coach

-No discernable gameplan

-More boneheaded offsides and illegal formation penalties

-JL needs to step it up several levels

And that is exactly why, when they do win, and I assure you they can, you should shut it down.....the gap is what it is, but it's not what you think.

Positives

McManus is money.

Valentine with a beautiful interception high pointing the ball.

Cooper making plays.

Love in the 4th quarter.

Negatives

Often, in big games, it seems MLF (and, by extension, Love) play not to lose in the first half and try to keep the game close to have a chance in the 4th.

Just not enough pass rush from Van Ness and Gary. That's the biggest issue and it's going to require the offense to score 35+ to win playoff games against the elite teams.

Jacobs ball security. You can't fumble on that type of hit.

Reed has disappeared the last month. As someone said in the other thread that was started about Watson, he needs Watson to stretch the field for him.

Presnap penalities can't happen. 12 men in the huddle. Wicks killer penalty in the first half.

The Eagles beat the Packers by 5 and the Packers had the ball inside Philly territory at the end. The Vikings won by 2 points both times. The Lions just won by 3 and went for it on 4th down with less than a minute left to make sure they kicked the FG at the gun.

They are not going to treat the Packers as a bye. I hope they do, but they won't.

- going deep to a double covered wr on 3rd and short.

Which led to Vikings getting the ball back with 1:30 left in the half  and 3 more points. Compound that with them starting out the 2nd half with the ball. You just gotta run down the clock in that situation.

Play calling, clock management, and execution in the 2 minute warning has been problematic all season.

Unless Washington implodes, we'll end up being the 7th seed and playing Philly in the wild card round.  Good luck.

A fitting end to the season - The Packers then would have six losses, two a piece to the each of the top three teams in the conference.

The failed fourth-down conversion. Not the best ball from Love but a catchable one that Reed has to make. Minnesota receivers made the difficult catches all afternoon.

Slept on it and it remains an embarrassing effort from the Packers and both MLF and Love need to perform much better.

-  Jacobs fumble really set the tone. Packers were driving and an opening TD would have punched the assclowns in the mouth. After that, the "Tude" the Packers had after the Saints game left the building.

Strong hands are not a trait Gutekunst values in evaluation. The most reliable hands are probably attached to Malik Heath's wrists, a guy he didn't even spend a draft pick on.

Before I even saw this post, I was thinking the same thing, Heath might have the best hands on the team.  I totally understand why they don’t play him more though as it seems like he’s the least explosive guy out of all their WR corps.

Well, I hope the Packers don’t dwell on this game as much as we are.  The Bears would love to end their season by beating the Packers.

The real question is can this team take it up a notch against a top team?   They’ve proven up to now the answer is no.  In a one and done situation, maybe things can change. But I’m not holding my breath.

I still think the single most alarming issue is the lack of pass rush from the front four.  I’m puzzled by the lack of production and that also includes all of the stupid offsides penalties.

The other problem is it seems like they start slow in just about every big game.   It’s great they battle back and make the score close but expecting to pull off a miracle is well, expecting to pull off a miracle.

Onward.  Beat the Bears and try to have a good showing in the playoffs.

++++ This team did not give up. Heath and Wicks. Cooper. Jacobs, except on the turnover. Nixon's pass defense on Addison, in the end zone.

----Turnover by Jacobs. Weird offsides call, on Cooper, allowed a FG rekick, after the MN kicker doinked it. Receivers dropping passes that hit them in the hands. Lack of plays for Kraft and/or Musgrave. Going for it on 4th down instead of kicking the FG. I read, somewhere, that the Packers should take what the MN defense gives them, in this game. Three points are three points. We lost by two, again. Swept by both the Lions and the vikings, this season.

Not only does Heath have strong hands, he is one of our best blocking WRs, in the run game.

Big minus….the Pack, down 20 to 3, made a big play, drove and scored making it 20 to 10.  For the first time in the game IMO they looked  fully engaged.  The D took the field and immediately gave it back.  This has been the essence of this team way too many times.

As an aside, I am usually a take the points guy especially on the road but I wonder if early in the first qtr it would have been better to go for the TD instead of taking the 3.  Who knows how that potential TD would have affected the rest of the game.  This is not to find fault with the decision (I agreed) just thinking.
