You play for the damn 1 seed, now win the game.  There is no advantage to playing in the first round if you can get home field and the bye.

This run by Dillon is the best thing all year

Not a positive or negative, just a few observations about AR.

-I thought for the first time he looked cold, like uncomfortably cold, from KO to the final snap.  I also thought, for the first time, he looked old in the face on camera closeups.

-He put up good numbers, but I don’t think he was particularly sharp.  A couple of his passes were unbelievable, but he also seemed to short arm several throws. And several of his completions to open receivers were not on the money. I thought his midrange passes lacked crispness were accustomed to seeing.

Again, not a negative as his numbers were really good.  He just seemed off and I thought he looked uncomfortably cold.  Dare I say Favre didn’t handle extreme cold very well later in his career either.

If a bitterly cold, January home game happens, here's who the likely QB matchups are (2 of these 5). I don't think the Eagles are going to beat anyone in Round 1, but if they do, that's a matchup I'd love for the Packers to get in three weeks.

The other 5 are all coming from warm-weather cities.

1. Bucs. 44-year-old Tom Brady.

2. Rams. 33-year-old Matthew Stafford (who has played in a dome most of his career)

3. Niners. Jimmy G.

4. Cardinals. Kyler Murray (college at Oklahoma)

5. Cowboys. Dak Prescott (college at Mississippi State).

By the time Eli Manning played in the title game vs. Favre, he'd already played for 4 years outdoors as a New York Giant. He was 26 years old.

Brady has obviously played in more big cold-weather games in his career than probably any QB in history. But it's not he's going to have some huge advantage in playing in it as a younger guy like Eli did vs. Favre.

The thing that would probably scare me the most is Murray or maybe Prescott running wild (Hurts could do this if the Eagles somehow got through).

You just gave me flashbacks to Kaepernick running wild...

Getting older sucks for many reasons, and not being able to acclimate to cold weather is definitely one reason.

Bert playing against the giants was a good example. He had no interest in being on the field that night and it showed. 22-year old Bert, like most 22-year olds, would have been too dumb to even realize that it was cold outside.

Being dumb sometimes has its benefits.

Single digits and near below zero with the wind chill and when on the field, just a jersey and a long sleeve shirt. Who wouldn’t be cold?

I was at that game and Favre should have been benched. When Eli came out for warmups but went back in quickly I thought we had it. But I suspect Favre's aches and pains from years of getting hit did not allow him to react well to the cold.

Fedya thanks you for the glimmer of hope.

The reigning HOF MVP QB that is the heavy favorite to win his 4th MVP and has his team locked up with the 1st round bye that paves the road to the SB through Lambeau Field looked cold and had facial problems.

Makes sense.

The coldest I ever saw Favre look was earlier that 2007 season vs the Bears at Soldier Field.  He was always known as a tough indestructible guy.  That day he looked like he was defeated before the game even started.  He was outplayed by the Bears QB (maybe Orton?).  That was the first time I ever remember seeing Favre look so beaten by the elements and truly looking like he didn’t want to be playing football.  It was sort of a prelude to a few weeks later how he would handle the cold vs the Giants.

Me too

I wasn't at that game v the Giants, but I vividly remember when the camera was on Favre when he was the last Packer in the tunnel during pre-game introductions and thinking ... he has no interest in going out in those conditions to play a game. Too his credit, and inspite of his terrible OT int, they nearly pulled it off.

2008, 2012, 2014, 2021 .... talk about 4 "what coulda/shoulda been" NFCC games.

You guys™ just had to remind me of that Giants game, didn't you?   I can still see that interception. And .01 seconds after that interception, Mr. QO had to listen to me yelling, "THAT'S IT!!! I AM DONE WITH HIM! Let that young buck play from now on!" (I had also been influenced by said "young buck" almost beating the Cowboys in Dallas.)

Rodgers may still have some residual effects from the COVID. He's not going to let on if he does.

I want snow games more than cold games vs Prescott and Murray.

The icy cold

The icy cold game vs the Bears a few weeks earlier was the one that first alarmed the Packers brass. Favray got outplayed by Kyle Orton, and clearly didn't want to be out there that Sunday afternoon. Wind chill was -18 and Favray was already dreaming about Mississippi. Packers got creamed 35-7 and Bert delivered a QB rating of 40.

"...From a purely football perspective, the organizational shift against Favre began that November night in Dallas, gained steam in the arctic cold of Soldier Field and became a raging blaze during Favre's pathetic second-half showing against the New York Giants... with a Super Bowl berth there for the taking."

Positive: We eliminated the poser Vikings from playoff contention! Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon both have over 1,000 yards rushing, this season! ARod's toe seemed to have no effect on his play. HFA!!! Our Defense kept Cook and Jefferson, at bay.

Negatives: I would have gone for the FG. You know which one. Why did Zimmer take Mond out and put Mannion back in? Let the kid play! The game was beyond reach, for Minnesota. Mond will need the reps, sooner than the Vikings think, IMO.
