I suspect that a couple of factors are at ply with the defense this year. One is that it appears most team D is off this season.

Obviously, injuries and the lockout have had some effect and the fact that each team now has a full set of tape on the Packers blitz scheme.

I also suspect that Capers is sitting on his hand a little. By that I mean he is forcing the Packers to play it pretty straight up when they can. I suspect that until the bye, GB will look pretty bland unless they get in a big hole and then maybe the wraps come off. Zombo and Neal returning may help and the advent of cooler weather will cut both ways as GB's offense will slow as much as the other guys. I fret every day about the team but last year it was to offense this year the defense. I guess I will just have to get used to 31-24 scores Unlike years gone by #12 is pretty careful with the football and I have yet to see the WTF was that throw this year

I think it is fair to say the lock out affected defenses more than offenses. Look around the league. Defenses are folding at historic rates. Worst defense in YPG? Patriots. Best? Bengals.

I am not saying there are not issues with this team. The pass rush is in need of serious help. Not getting the push we need and the blitzes are not hitting home. Underneath routes seem to be open at all times. A huge percentage of the yards are passing yards, mostly because the other team is playing catch up. Rush defense looked great in the first three games.

I agree that we should allow for greater competition and free up some playing time for someone like So'oto. Walden hasn't looked bad, but I have not enjoyed him chasing TEs down field. The pass coverage schemes seem to rely on him a bit. There are plenty of plans where he ends up chasing a WR across the field. Disturbing.
