Using your own words..."8 sacks" but they weren't at their best. Ok, I'm frightened
Nursing Wilson along? So that is how they got the roughing the passer call.
I dont follow much of the pro football that comes out of the state of Ohio,
but what am I missing wrt the Bengals?
What do they have that would rate them multiple spots above us?
Also New England, without Welker , Hernandez and Gronk above us.
Am I just overvaluing my favorite team?
Niners are a nobrainer. I could see how someone could argue for the Falcons, SeaHawks and Broncos. Maybe Ravens over us.
Though week 1 the last few years have really had some major upsets for people going off rankings based on the end of the previous year.
Am I just overvaluing my favorite team?
Yes. Take off the Green & Gold glasses & look through some purple & gold
So you can really see the Packers are in the bottom 10. I hope they can crawl out of that hole this year.
What do they have that would rate them multiple spots above us?
At 33/1 to win the SB this year. I'm gonna to go with "the payoff".
βIt got to a point where we could hear the Packersβ defenders arguing while we were in our huddle. βYouβre supposed to do this,β or βYou have to do this, then the other.β At that point, our offense was like, Itβs over. As soon as you start turning on your teammates, youβre not going to be productive. You know you have them in the palm of your hands.β
Colin Kaepernick on last years playoff game. And I'm thinking he's painting a really accurate picture of what was happening by the end of the 3rd quarter. Still not convinced saying it was a wise idea though.
A Packer defense in complete disarray is what I saw watching the game and I'm inclined to believe Kaepernick as well. How they respond in the opening game will be interesting.
They will take his head clean off.
I did not hear about the Packers defense arguing so loud that SF offense could hear them.
That is a worrying to me, I do not know what the problem was last season. If we see a disorganized Packers defense again this year I would suspect Don Cappers is the problem. I also wonder if Woodson has lost so much by the end of last season he was a liability on he field.

Take a breath.
GB plain were not prepared for the read option/pistol offense and with less then a week to practice it, there was no time to get it down. Guys like Raji and Matthews were doing too much, going too far up field and not staying in their zones/lanes. Those who have been successful defending it have said it takes weeks and weeks of practicing it and disciplining players to stay in their lanes and not get over zealous.
That's pricelessly what GB was doing. So the "yelling" could have very well been the few guys who might have known what they were doing telling other guys to maintain their spaces and stop over pursuing. MM and Capers also admitted they didn't expect SF to play as much of it as they did. And ya, some of that is on them.
Come week 1 of this season. With a full off season program, TC, a slew of new players, a better D line, and a number of healthy players coming back there should be no reason for this Packer team not to be fully prepared to play them.
Probably alot of yelling at Walden to pull his head out of his arse and play his containment reads before running helter skelter all over the place. Woody also, as I understand it, left alot to be desired in that game, as did Raji.
I still go back to Ross' muffed punt, that changed everything.
At least we will find out in a hurry just where our defense stands this year as compared to the last time we saw them.
In week 1?
In week 1?
.. we will see what strides we have made in defending the entire SF running game, from the read option to Gore between the tackles.
I believe week 1 has the potential to be a "statement" game for either team. The Niners will want to make believe the Packers are their new xitch, while the Pack, if they're the pros they are on defense, will want to make up for the punking they took in the last game. I think the running game, if it gets going, will take this one for the Pack.
is it just me or...
the Broncos as #2 in this silly power ranking nonsense?
I think the GBP would hand them their ass even playing in Denver.
but whatta I know.
Vegas has them as the 2nd best bet to win the SB. But given the fact the operation struggles sending a fax, Von Miller is staring at a 4 gamer, and Manning is 37 with 4 neck surgeries fresh off another backbreaker playoff pick and is one decent hit from retirement...
I could see 12-4 as well as I could see 6-10. Yeah, you could make the same "lose your starting QB and you are absolutely done" argument for any team in the top 10. But Denver's had an unbelievably bad offseason starting with Elvis and the fax machine, to the front office guys being fired / suspended / to Millers likely suspension. The cloud is a little too dark right now to feel good about a number 2 ranking.
@Shoeless, your av...
It's mammarizing...
OK I'll show myself out.

It's a little like the beginning of last season when many thought the Pack would kick the Giants ass when given the chance in the regular season due to being outplayed and dominated in the playoff game the year prior (the 15-1 choke job) only to be completely dominated by them even worse in the 2012 season. Unfortunately I wouldn't be surprised if there was a similiar result with SF. I'm still not sold Capers belongs but I do hope he proves me wrong.
I don't even know why they just don't forfeit the game. The embarrassment could ruin the whole season.
To save you from having to look it up, PFT's Preseason Top 10:
1. SF
2. Denver
3. Baltimore
4. Seattle
5. Atlanta
6. Cincinnati
7. NE
8. GB
9. NO
10. Houston
the bengals at 6 is mindboggling for me. improved/improving, yes. 6th best team in the league? gonna hafta make me a believer there.
And with all of the starters gone from last year, Ravens at #3 makes no sense to me at all.

If it were the regular season I'd worry. If it were the playoffs* I'd expect Peyton to throw yet another brutal INT. And then see a whole bunch of media types excuse him for it.
*Yes, I know that the Packers couldn't play the Broncos in the playoffs in Denver.
I think 8th is a bit low, but as others have pointed out, our early exits from the playoffs are probably why. And preseason ranking are not an exact science, nor do they have any impact on the season, so I take them for what they are.
The only two teams in the NFC I would consider ranking ahead of Green Bay are the 49ers and Seahawks. I think we've closed the gap on the 49ers, and there are logical reasons to argue that the Packers are better than the Seahawks. As far as the Falcons; they are a very good team but, despite them finishing with more wins than the Packers, I just don't see them as better than the Packers.
