Phat Eddie™

McCarthy is usually pretty diplomatic about discussing specific players and issues but he singled out Lacy both in terms of his weight and desire and effort.  I can't recall him publicly shaming any other player quite like that which makes me wonder if there's more to the story?   

Lacy seems like a good dude and I wish the guy well but we all have to remember the NFL is not like any other job or any other business.  Normal rules do not apply despite the fact that players actually have employment contracts which is a facade.  Players are signed, promoted, and released all the time with little to no regard to what's fair or respectful or dignified.  Not to mention the work environment and working conditions are brutal. 

The flip side is these guys chose that line of work but it is a cold and harsh world to be a player in the NFL.  It's not all glitz and glamour. 

The best part about the article was the piece about how easy the practices were in GB compared to Alabama.  Ouch!! 

Good guy and teammate who unfortunately lacked the commitment to his profession. 

Really I guess the only problem with him being 260 lbs is the money. If a team is going to invest  big money in a player, which he was due after his contract ended, they should invest in one who takes care of his body, shows commitment, etc. If you're not paying big money, does he really need to keep his weight in check? He was still effective for 5 games in GB at 260 lbs., so what if you're paying him vet minimum and still getting 5.1 ypc out of him...does it matter then if he's 260 lbs?

Please, let's not compare the corporate world to the NFL.  But if we must, I'll gladly take public whippings for Eddie's salary.

If private conversations between MM and Lacy happened and Eddie kept going down a path Mike didn't like he would have put him on the bench and let Ted know there wasn't any need to talk extension. 

People management is people management. Regardless of the industry. 

The two cleared the air in private, with McCarthy expressing regret for calling his running back out in a news conference, and Lacy insists now that no hard feelings lingered. 

MM conceded he didn't handle it properly.

Lacy active Sunday but no carries or receptions. Not sure he got on the field.

Chris Carson will be their RB moving forward.

Thomas Rawls, Eddie Lacy are sharing the bench instead of the carries

Only time Eddie's seen the field was in the opener against the Packers. Likely not what he envisioned when he signed,

Eddie is not playing in Seattle, because rookie 7th round pick Chris Carson is better than he is as is second year pass catching RB CJ Prosise. End of story.

Thank God TT did not resign him.

Now, if we can get one of our 3 RB draft picks to produce a little more like Carson has, no one will be pining for Eddie any longer.

No one is pining for Eddie, no one.....unless he can play tackle.

Making it even sadder:

I don't share the Eddie hate here. He took a much larger payday. When Montgomery went out with his hand injury in the second half, I didn't get any warm fuzzies from his replacement.  I am guessing that if the Seahawks cut him and he would sign for the vet min, TT would pick him up.

Like others have pointed out, he's running behind landfill in SEA.  I think he can still do damage when he has somewhere to run.

Now, if we can get one of our 3 RB draft picks to produce a little more like Carson has, no one will be pining for Eddie any longer.

First they need a few more opportunities.

U. John is expected to be on IR any moment so that would be an open roster spot. Come to think of it, Lacy does have good footwork, unfortunately his T-Rex arms would be limiting at OT.

I was rong about this one. I thought it was a mistake to let him walk. Also, likely the only positive from this season is that running game is likely the deepest and best it has ever been during the M3 era.
