I found some actual Super Bowl news to discuss!
quote:
A few days after saying he planned to play against the Packers despite a high ankle sprain, Pouncey declined to comment when asked Wednesday by NFL Network’s Albert Breer. A few Steelers writers noted that Pouncey is a rookie, and his original optimism may have come from immaturity and hope more than anything.

There is another concerning sign about Pouncey’s status.

Breer reports that Pouncey was wearing a hard cast over his ankle rather than an aircast or a walking boot. He was moving on crutches to get around.

Tough break for the kid one game before the Super Bowl. Wonder how his replacement will matchup with The Freezer.

That's pretty big if he can't go but his replacement is no slouch. He played well vs. the Jets

Pittsburgh = mirror image of Green Bay. Next man up and keep going.

This is going to be a great game!
Quick favor IL Pack fan

Can you remember to identify the site you are linking to as many of us have opted to boycott the PFT/florio site going forward

Thanks for sharing the info, and next time just put a "PFT" in the link description so we know in advance

Go Packers
If he plays, he is short on practice and is nicked up

If he doesn't play, Legursky gets his first start at Center

Either way Raji & Co. will be a handful for their OL

I don't think the Steelers would roll him out there unless they were confident he could go. There is too much at stake if they have a competent replacement.
Pittsburgh's offensive line has been hit by injuries nearly as bad as Green Bay's LBs were. I think they already are using reserve tackles as I think Starks and Colon would have been the starters had they not been put on IR earlier this year. If Pouncey can't go then that's 3 starters off that O-Line that would be out.

Exploitable matchups, and possibly one reason why the lines opened with us as the slight favorite.

Listening to ESPN Milwaukee(Homer show) also reporting Pouncey will not be playing next week.
A lot of talking heads on NFLN saying Steelers are in trouble if Pouncey can't play.

At the very least it will cause the Steelers some extra stress during preparation.
PG exclusive: Steelers' Pouncey has broken bone in left ankle
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

By Gerry Dulac and Ed Bouchette on Thursday, January 27, 2011

Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey has a broken bone in his left ankle along with the previously-announced high ankle sprain. His status for Super Bowl XLV Feb. 6 remains highly doubtful.

Steelers sources say they have not yet ruled him out of the game against the Green Bay Packers, but a number of teammates remain privately skeptical that he will be healthy enough to play. continue
I wonder if it's the same injury Favre had. If it is, Pouncey's out. No way an offensive lineman can play with that injury. Not effectively, anyway. He may try a series or two, because it's the Super Bowl and he's a tough SOB, but for all intents and purposes he's a scratch.

I thought he got hurt right before their first TD?

You are correct P H. Went down right before the 1st TD.
