Judging from todays Journal Cap article I'd guess GB is looking at nine guys who are big Cap numbers who may or are going to be cut. I'd guess restructure and Draft figure into the decisions.
1. Woodson 9.4 Mil 2. Finley 8.7 Mil 3. Williams 8.5 Mil
4. Hawk 7 Mil 5. Pickett 6.7 Mil 6. Bishop 4.8 Mil
7. Saturday 4.6 Mil 8. Crosby 3.2 Mil 9. Kuhn 2.5 Mil.

I'd guess Saturday is easiest. Would Woodson restructure for 2 years 7 mil?
Finley is gone only if they draft top TE. He will not restructure. Tramon Williams has not been 2010 for 2 years now. Still I think he stays unless we draft a corner. Hawk is coach Fav. Pickett? TT says better to cut one year early than late. Good draft for D-Line. Gone Bishop is question mark due to injury. GB is thin at linebacker. Crosby gone if GB drafts top kicker. Kuhn is gone. Fullback not important and while the fans love him we can save a little cap here. I'd say one D-Back stays at some # and one linebacker stays. If this comes to pass about $29 Mil in cuts.

1 - restructure: $3.5mm is roster/game bonus
2 - keep: $3.5mm due on 15th day of league yr (middle of March)
3 - keep
4 - restructure or cut: $4.8mm left on SB
5 - keep
6 - keep
7 - cut
8 - restructure or cut & replaced w/draft pick
9 - cut: $0.8mm bonus ($.25mm prorated SB; $.55mm workout)
According to JSO, if GB releases just Woodson and Saturday (coupled with the 7.1 mil they are allowed to carry over from the 2012 season) it would give GB 17.2 million in cap room.

I suspect Russ Ball will try his best to restructure Woody.

i cannot see woodson taking a pay cut, but who knows . . .

Seriously. What other team is going to pay a 38 year old CB 10-12 million a year who's had recent health issues and without a doubt is on the decline?

I guess he could retire but I don't think he's going to get a whole lot more then what GB would offer him in a restructured deal. The cap number in the 2013 season isn't going to allow a lot of team to go hog wild in FA like they will be able to in 2014. And many teams like the Lions who could use better CB's are in cap hell and will have to shed many a veteran.
Nice post Hungry5. Time will tell but every year a surprise cut. Between Williams, Finley, Bishop and Pickett I do think one/mabe two go byby. Pickett and Williams age, Bishop bad injury and Finley had poor first 8-9 games. They need to redo some contracts and GB likes to do it with one year left. So Mathews, Raji need to be redone for sure. AR soon.
Woodson is intelligent enough that he knows something has to happen. At this point I hope he realizes that GB can't afford to pay him 10 million, especially with 3 young stud CBs waiting in the wings. If he wants to stay in GB, he will restructure. If he wants to stay in GB AND still make a bunch of money, they will cut him and he will agree to a new, cap friendly deal. If he just wants a bunch of money then he will be released IMO. I think he wants to be in GB and I think he will restructure.

Williams makes too much money to be so horrible against the run and just mediocre as a pass defender.

In fairness, Tramon shows up on the bad list on just the raw number data of 1st downs + TDs. But as the article goes on, it states: "how can we really judge those guys given their opportunity to give up first downs are widely different to others? So instead of looking at who gave up the most, let’s look at who gave up the highest percentage relative to their coverage snaps (with a minimum of 300 snaps in coverage)."

Once you put that into account, Williams no longer appears on the "bad list." And of course, that list also doesn't take into account who you're playing against. In 25% of his games, Williams is matched up with Brandon Marshall or Calvin Johnson.

I'll agree that Williams did not play at the elite level we saw in 2010. And perhaps he'll never get back to that form.

But he still seems too valuable to simply cut. You look around the league and there are some massive holes in the secondary, even with very good teams. Even if GB does decide they have enough depth to part ways with Williams, you'd think he'd still have some value to trade rather than cut completely.

....my problem is that it is difficult to build and preach a culture of tough, physical, hard-nosed defense when you put a defender on the field that obviously does not like contact. I could live with his coverage if he wouldn't run from contact.
