This is incredible.  Lions lose once, we win out, we are NFCN Champs.

9. Green Bay Packers (7-6-1, 5-5-1 conf, 2-2-1 div; vs. Steelers [6-8], at Bears [8-6])
• Would be eliminated with a loss to the Steelers and both/either a Bears win at the Eagles and/or two Lions wins.
• Would clinch the North with two wins and a Lions loss.

Tonight is the best chance for a Lions loss.  Final two games are against the NYG, and Queens.  Obviously, they are not consistent and any given Sunday, but tonight, would be huge if the Ravens won.

Add to that, if DAL wins their last two games GB would be the 3 seed.

*** edit *** other scenarios for GB to get the 3 seed - NFCE winner at 9-7 regardless of DAL or PHI - they play each other in week 17.

There's obviously a number of things that have to happen these next 2 weeks but the Packers would be wise to look at how the 2008 Arizona Cardinals handled the playoffs as a template for making a longer playoff run further than expected.

That Cardinals team had some major weaknesses but they did have a likely HOF QB that got hot and led them much further than it looked like they possibly could get.  No, they didn't win the Super Bowl, but they did win the NFC and were within a controversial last minute miracle catch by Santonio Holmes of winning it all.

As bad as the Pack looks at times, just get to the playoffs and study how the Cardinals got out of the NFC in 2008.   There are some similarities in the types of teams they are.

That sounds great.  But SEA seems to be taking it up a notch too, which is kind of ridiculous.  They have been playing some badass football.  I can't see them losing at home in the playoffs accept to maybe the niners.

It's great to see the resilience of this team finally resurface though.  It's a nice way to finish the season, playoffs or not.

The playoffs and high expectations have a way of squeezing crap out of bad coaches. I'm talking to you Mike Smith.

Until Pete shows me otherwise I'm operating under the assumption he's going to flame out of the playoffs in extraordinary fashion.

The game at the Vikes is not a given,   They are playing better since ponder was benched and it is the last game at the Dump....if need be I will be a Vikes fan that day.

Let's hope for a Lions loss tonight so it won't come to that.

It seems...

If the Packers AND Eagles clinch, GB will have the 4 seed. They would likely host the Panthers, possibly the 49ers.

If GB AND Dallas clinch, GB will have the 3 seed. They would most likely host the 49ers. BUT if the Panthers beat the Saints the Panthers will get the 2 seed and GB would likely host the Saints. I think this is the most desirable scenario. I'll take the Saints in Lambeau over the 49ers or Panthers.

Nice to have some What Ifs going on after such a clusterf?ck of a middle of the season ... didn't like it, not 1 bit.

That rough stretch reminded me of how much the Queens, Lions and not so much the Bears ... suck Year-in, Year-out.

(Shivers) I do not want to go back to that bad place.

Lions may be favored in all games they have left but it is the Lions so they have just as good of a shot at losing. I remember thinking there was no way the Cardinals would beat the Vikings a few years ago when the Packers were trying to get in the playoffs. Then a miracle happened and the Vikings lost in the last few seconds. Hopefully it works out again this year.

I had a house full of Lions fans for our Christmas party on Saturday night.  To a man they all agreed that the Lions would NOT win out.  They also unanimously picked the Vikings game as the one they would lose because it would be "typical Lions."
