Maybe it's just me & I don't have a horse in this race but seeing the Cubs beat the Cardinals was pretty special.

108 years with no playoff series wins in Wrigley. Streak is over. Up next? Break the curse?!?!

I'm rooting for the Cubs. Used to love watching them on WGN with Jack Brickhouse.

Long before the strike year where they took away our playoffs & WS.

Astros moved to AL just recently

So Ned Yost is responsible for assembling that roster?   Give me a break.

There's no question Melvin probably overextended his welcome but I can't people anyone would actually clamor for Nedley.

I think they are starting over and that's the right approach.  The offseason moves are going to get them pointed in the right direction

They were in the playoffs in 2008.  They were in the playoffs in 2011.  They have been going for it since 2007 up until this past season.  They haven't started over since the early 00's when they brought in Melvin.

And, while I don't think anyone is thrilled, they are in desperate need to start over and load up on young talent as they are in the toughest division in baseball, and being mediocre won't do a thing.

A few years ago, KC had a billboard up that said "get your jokes in now". Their organization laid a foundation by being a doormat for a long time. The Greinke trade added a few pieces and they hit on top 5 draft picks.

This is where the Brewers are now. They are rebuilding. The Cubs just did it- and they're looking strong for the next few years. The key is they have to hit on these picks. Build with bats, hope to hit a few pitchers, then trade a couple pieces to get the ace if you don't have one.

That's the way it's done. We're in year one. Gonna have to be patient guys...
It's not just KC. Houston and Chicago and Pittsburgh were just as bad if not worse than the Royals and they look to be decent for a while now.

The common theme with those clubs is they all hit rock bottom and had several years of Top 5 picks.   That adds up to guys like Garrett Cole and Chris Bryant (among others) and the Brewers need to follow that model
