Ponder...Chickened Out?

Ignorant thread. Frazier said he couldn't do certain things they needed him to do so they sat him out. Probably wasn't up to him either.

He couldn't physically throw the ball other than soft lobs. Nothing to do with lack of manhood.

My neice works for the vikings, said Ponder could not throw 10 yards as of late yesteeday.

How is that any different from when he's healthy?

Vikings would have lost tonight with Ponder or without him. Their defense was really bad. GB took their foot off the gas early.

Ponder's not elite by any measure but he sure torched GB last week.

The best week of Ponders career was a typical Aaron Rodgers week.

He could have played left-handed and still given the Queens a better chance of winning than Webb did.

True enough. Still, the guy should have been in pads even though he wasnt able to play. Sometimes, you gotta play the perception angle.

The outcome of this game was known to all but die hard Viking fans(and Herm Edwards) the second the Vikings won last week to earn the right to visit Lambeau,Ponder would not have made any difference at all if he had played.

The way the Packers were clamping down on Peterson I really don't think it would have mattered if Andrew Luck was throwing the ball. The Packers were not being denied

This. Ponder couldn't even lift his arm to throw, let alone throw with any velocity.

I credit Leslie Frazier a lot. By declaring Ponder out he spared his young QB the embarrassment of being a major flop in his first postseason game and also any chance of receiving the kind of fan derision that Cutler received when he more or less took himself out of that playoff game with us.

The Packers suspected something was up with him anyway, since their last day of preparation features a heavy dose of Webb and I doubt that a sideline masquerade (in uniform) would have fooled anybody once he didn't take the field.

I got a kick out of Tony Dungy "liking" the Vikes' chances with Webb -- surely Tony of all people would realize there was a reason Webb was a backup who hardly played.

I actually think if he were suited up on the sidelines, the 'perception' would have been that there was a chance, even if ever so slight, that he could play. And then maybe his toughness is questioned. By not being dressed, I think it showed just how injured/incapable of playing he was.

I don't question his toughness.

Also, if he's dressed he counts against the game day roster. Makes no sense to take that spot up just to play up the "perception angle". The Vikings had to bump a couple of guys up after they lost one of their best special teams players, Tyrone McKenzie, I think.

Ponder played through a lot of pain at Florida, having his elbow drained numerous times before games.

If he's not out there, it's because he's not good enough to go.
