What a circus.  I'm a bit more afraid of Ponder than Freeman.  At least Ponder knows more than 10 plays.  I know Gerg has been saying the right things, but he has to be wondering WTF?

The Triangle of Ineptitude is in full effect.

If Freeman has a concussion, I have more money than Bill Gates.

Like we were all saying earlier....This is their Super Bowl.

I expect Adrian Peterson to get the ball about 35-40 times if he's healthy enough.

There is NO WAY they will play as bad as they did vs. the NY Giants

Having the DB's prepare for balls that sail over the receivers heads vs. balls that bounce 5 yards in front of the receiver.

Ponder has zero confidence. He's sucked, passed over twice, and now is only back in because of a phantom concussion to Freeman. He had confidence last year and was able to do some things, but he never really got the chance to get over the slump he was in early in the season. Now he's going against a GB secondary that has been lock down all season? Poor guy.

I've always felt bad for guys like Adrian Peterson and Calvin Johnson. They're arguably the two most talented players in the NFL and they play on messes of teams. Wasted talent.

Between the 3 stooges Ponder probably gives them their best chance and delays the inevitable ass canning of Frazier perhaps a bit longer. They need butts in seats for the new stadium as well and watching Freeman throw 20 feet over the head and 10 yards past Jennings on 3 yard slant won't be pretty.

So I suppose giving Freeman a concussion was the only thing they could think of.

Holy Gads what a schit show..

Conversation in the Vikes locker room....

Frazier:  "OK, who wants to start against the Packers on Sunday?"

Cassell:  "Screw that.  I wish I were back in KC.  At least they had good ribs there."

Freeman:  "Ribs?  I could go for some ribs.  What about Ponder?"

***Ponder coming out of the bathroom***

Ponder:  "What did I miss?"

Frazier:  "You're starting on Sunday."

Ponder:  "F*#%"

Frazier said Freeman reported concussion symptoms yesterday. Felt off after third-quarter hit but nothing on sideline to indicate concussion

Prompting this comment on Vikings Boards:

So, "there was nothing on the sideline to indicate concussion" but he never said anything at the time? So which is it? Did he say nothing at all, or were they checking him out for a concussion but didn't find anything to "indicate one"? Uh huh.

Yep. Can't make this shi* up.

That's amazing that Ponder changes the line by a point and a hook.

I don't like these developments at all.

Now every guy on that team is going to take advantage of another national audience to prove "Whatever **** stain caught your notice last Monday wasn't mine. And by the way, make a trade offer to Zygi- I'm willing to relocate."

I think Cassel gives them their best chance to win and he is their 3rd choice. You can't ask for a better group of morons to be running that show. They should have signed Alex Smith last winter. He was the absolute perfect QB for that team.

Ponder will be motivated for obvious reasons, but there's a reason he was the third choice behind the other two stiffs.  He also hasn't been getting a lot of reps and there's also the fact that he sucks.

I agree that Cassell, the ultimate average QB, gives them the best chance to win, but as soon as Ponder throws a pick he'll fold.  I have to admit that I was looking forward to seeing Freeman start, as that performance Monday was one of the worst I have ever seen, but it won't make a difference.

Are you kidding? They're completely different quarterbacks. Ponder throws late while Freeman throws high.

With Ponder starting I would expect MN to hand it off to Peterson like 40 times in the game.  That's really their only shot at winning this game.    If they don't, I think the Packers DBs could have a field day because Ponder really telegraphs his throws.

It's interesting that the interceptions haven't been there this year. Burnett missed time and Hayward has missed the season. But the defense hasn't looked this good in years. GB has given up a lot of garbage yards and points after 6 weeks.

Jolly effect?

I have the same thoughts.  The improvement on the defense comes from the defensive line this season.  There's only a few areas to look compared to last season:

- Addition of Jolly and D. Jones

- Improved play by Daniels

More than anything, Jolly has changed the mindset of the defensive line.  He plays with a level of nastiness and effort that seems to be contagious.  Daniels fits right in with that.  He reminds me of a young John Randle.  I doubt he'll ever be as good, but he seems to have a similar build and fire about him.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that. AP has a hamstring issue going on, he missed practice yesterday, and that's probably why he only got 13 carries Monday night.

What if this is just a ruse by the Vikes and they really start Cassel?  How could Capers ever come up with anything to stop him?  I would put nothing past these wily Vikings.  Perhaps this is why they have stockpiled the qb position with 3 NFL starters.  D   coordinators would never know who to prepare for.

While giving kudos to the line, I would not hesitate to give some to the secondary.

Nothing to do with "mindset" but more to do with playable depth. Pickett and Raji don't have to play so danged many snaps and a line of Raji, Pickett and Jolly gives them a legitimate beefy from-3, when needed, and a good core for goalline packages. They've 5-6 guys they can rotate and keep fresh throughout the game now. That makes a heck of a difference.

The secondary has jumped a few grades since Burnett has been back and they are no doubt reaping the benefits of better DL play as well.  It certainly helps that they've faced a Johnsonless Stafford (teehee), Flacco and Weeden the last 3 weeks.   They still let some big pass plays leak through but if Banjo can keep improving and Heyward comes back at 2012 form they should be really tough to move the ball on.  Will be really interesting to see how they do vs. a legitmate offense on...Thanksgiving?

Paul Allen     @PAKFANVikes

Ponder just said: "I already have been benched, what do I have to lose?"

You have to consider firing your GM yesterday when the QB taken 12th overall in the draft says something like this well before his rookie contract expires.
