The post was meant in light humor and not meant to be mean spirited or disrespectful  at all. I thought it was funny. My daughter in law sent it to me and we both thought it was funny. I shared them with several female business associates of mine who loved it and wanted to share them with others.

I am sure the new ref is very qualified and knows every rule in the book frontwards and backwards.  Sorry to offend you guys.

Without a doubt.  That's kinda my point.

Referencing FLBob, not you.

FL Bob - Yes, no respect. I don't find this funny. She busts her ass to get to the top of her profession and you pull out some out-dated misaligned stereotypes as a joke.

Seriously.   They made my wife chuckle.

It's a few harmless jokes.  There is nothing personal or hateful in them.  People need to relax.  The PC Police can stand down.

This is helpful. Thanks.

By the way, someone cut me off on the drive to work this morning. How should I feel about that? I was very happy when it happened. Is that right?

Heh.  I'm not the one berating a guy because of a couple harmless memes.  They didn't cross any lines in terms of decency, so if you don't like them, then don't comment.  But you don't have to publicly shame the guy for posting them.

And, yes...this is a typical attack by the PC police/mob.  I've seen this movie before.  Everyone better fall in line, or risk being the next target.

IMO, such group attacks occur too often on x4 by a select few.  If one expresses any level of dissent contrary to that group’s position, they are personally attacked.  It's unfortunate, because it takes away from what is otherwise a great board with good posters.

Interesting that some people don't understand how humor works.  The idea is that you say something you don't fully mean, so we're not meant to take all of it seriously, yet it still conveys some sort of message.  The problem is that sometimes the underlying message it conveys is that we're not meant to take the person seriously.  THAT is the problem. It's not that the jokes themselves are so terrible or inappropriate or that the rest of us are somehow too sensitive.  It's that the jokes minimize the competence or value of the person and the significance of the progress it represents and that the joke teller is too clueless to recognize it.

You have got to be kidding me. Lol. You must walk constantly run into things with your nose stuck so high in the air. Lighten up Francis. Anyone with a clue knows it as a joke. No matter how much you and others here say differently. If I am "cluelss" in this matter that us fine. Beats the hell out of being a self rightoues asshole with their nose stuck in the air.

I tried. I really tried to find the humor in those pictures. I just didn't see anything worth even a smile. I didn't see anything mean or awful in them either. I couldn't even work up a good case of "I give a s***" either way. They were just... meh. Blah. Move on.

I found Fedya's vid more offensive (and I see the spirit in which it was posted here, Fed, so I'm not offended), but I've learned over the years that this is a great board and sometimes someone will overstep the bounds and for whatever reason, get hammered. (I think the PC police would have stepped in long ago on some of the pictures, avatars, etc., if they wanted to.) Hey, take a look at some other boards where the four-letter usage in posting is higher than the IQs of the posters. Would you rather have that or the sometimes-witty repartee we have here?

My mom was chronically ill-tempered, so I always found that commerical funny in a "it's funny because it's true" way.

And of course, commercials for household items have portrayed men as preternaturally stupid for decades.  So it goes both ways.
