I'm just throwing names out there:

Internal:

-Edgar Bennett: Has proven to be able to improve play at whatever position he's coaching. He's only spent one year as a WR coach, but I think at this point he's well earned an interview.

-Ben McAdoo: Like Bennett, nearly every player he coaches improves year after year. Might be a bit young to get such a hefty promotion.

-Tom Clements: Definitely a valuable assistant, although I don't think it's tradition for the NFL to have a HC and an OC with expertise in the same position.

-James Campen: He can coordinate pizza delivery to the hotel room while Tauscher teaches guys how to cut block.

-Mike Tgrovac: The Dream Team made their offensive line coach their defensive coordinator. I suggest the Packers adopt the same strategy to increase the time fellated on ESPN.

External:

-Greg Knapp: Current QB coach of the Texans and former OC in for multiple teams.

-Tom Cable: An assistant HC in Seattle so probably can't be hired for OC. Still a nice thought.

Isn't this that crazy ex-Oakland coach who beat up one of his assistants?

I'm pretty sure he didn't teach or encourage the art of dropping passes while performing his duties as WR coach.

He had alot of success as an OC, last with Arizona when they were seconds away from winning the SB over a strong Steelers D.

I'm not sure how much coaching he'd get done...

Philbin was essentially the running game coordinator due to his OLine background. McCarthy and Clements handle the passing game so Philbin's replacement as OC will most likely take over as the running game coordinator. Edgar Bennett seems like the most likely candidate. He's a former RB, he has been the RB coach for several years and I get the sense they think very highly of him. I think they thought it was inevitable that Philbin would get a HC job (either at the NFL or collegiate level) and moving Bennett to WR coach would get him some experience with the passing game so he could take over sooner rather than later.

Clements has OC experience though and has a great report with Rodgers. Clements is a guy I don't think they want to lose and he's a guy I think McCarthy could trust to handle things. I'm not saying he couldn't trust Bennett, but Clements has OC experience whereas Bennett would still have to learn a little bit. I would also be very curious to see who they would bring in as QB coach, I'm thinking Rich Gannon is a possibility.

The way McCarthy seems to like to promote from within, I can't imagine he goes with someone not on the staff. If they promote Bennett, I would look for them to add the Asst. Head Coach title to Clements and give him a little raise similarly to what they did with Winston Moss.
While I think the departure/promotion to HC is great for Philbin and well deserved, as a Packers fan I am concerned what his departure means to the OL progress of this past year.
