Practice Squad Set...

No Hoese (FB) or Gordy (CB). Mildly surprising, but not anywhere as surprising as West, Gurley, and Harrell making it past the waiver wire.

While OL is really thin (and maybe DE), I can't believe how deep this team is at the rest of the positions.

Very pleased at our being able to keep all these kids in the organization -- all show a lot of promise. Here's hoping they don't get poached.

Now we need a vet C/G off the waiver wire -- solve that issue, and I don't know how TT and MM could have done a better job this offseason/camp.

Told you guys Harrell would make it to PS again.

It's not like Harrell set the world on fire in pre-season so it'd have been weird to see a team sign him to their active roster I think. Outside of local media I don't think the guy got any attention. Besides (and admittedly I haven't checked), it seems like only keeping 2 QB's is becoming slightly more common - at least if #'s 1 and 2 are set.

Agreed all the WR's showed enough to stick around. Furthermore, West and Gurley showed more upside than Swain ever did. Still, with legit players at WR 1-5 and 5 TE's it's unlikely there will be a spot for these guys.

The caveat is of the current WR's only Cobb will contribute on ST and that's more as a returner than gunner. If this is Driver's last year hopefully one of these guys sticks all year. Here's hoping they don't make the roster this year due to injury. With Nelson and Finley set to become UFA's who knows next year.

Given Gurley came out prematurely (after only redshirt soph year) it will be interesting to see how he develops. To even make the PS of defending SB champs stacked at WR is an accomplishment. If that guy's mind is right (Cool Hand Luke?) he could be interesting. After all, West had an entire season on the squad already.

Nice! Too bad we couldn't get Gurley or Hoese though. Can't complain however.

Glad to see both Borel and Saine made it and it looks like a very good group.

Glad Saine was signed to the practice squad too. They had to have at least one RB on the squad. With some time to develop he could make a decent third down back. And, with the pounding RB's take, they may need him this year.

and how much do the PS guys make???

$5200/week for each week they are on the PS, $88 k for 17 game season

vet minimum on the 53 man roster is $ 375k for rookies and 450k for 2nd year guys

He did a hell of a lot better than Brohm but the Bills carried him on an NFL roster for 2 years.

Elmore really flamed out to not even make the PS.

I didn't get it when TT picked Elmore and his 4.9 speed. I thought that was to slow. I didn't think he fit the role. There is also more to know when going from DE to OLB. I know Vic So'oto did the same thing, but he had 4.6 (and some say faster) speed. He also proccessed the additional information better. He probably didn't have to think in the KC game and just played.

Interesting to look back at this list from September 2011 and note how many of these guys are pushing for a spot on the 53 man roster in 2012

Development from within...

You can bet that other NFL teams have taken note as well. TT and the coaches are going to have to work real hard to duplicate that list for the start of next year. Coleman and Richardson might sneak on.
