Rewatching the Niners/Saints game on condensed version. Wanted to evaluate Purdy.

He doesn't have, Deebo, Kittle, Aiyuk or McCaffrey......in a nutshell.....

He sucks! He cannot make all the throws. Doesn't have a strong enough arm to throw an out, without it potentially being picked off. He looks like Clifford vs. the Broncos. Josh Dobbs looks a lot better.

If the Niners start losing early & often, look for Kyle to make a QB change.....and if that happens, they don't need to pay the guy.

Going to be an interesting year I believe.

Don't get sucked onto the Josh Dobbs bandstand! He's a rabbit in the pocket running at the slightest shadow, quick and able to dodge tacklers, but ultimately the game eats him up. MN thought they had something special when they picked him up from AZ, and for a couple of games, he looked good before reverting to form. He's been in the league since drafted in 2017 (he's 29) and has been on eight different teams, starting 2023 in AZ and ending in MN.

In AZ, he started the first eight games, going 1-7, then was traded to MN where he went 2-2 before they sat him for the rest of the year. He's played in 21 games for his career (started 14), completed 62% of 502 attempts, tossed 15 TDs -- to go with 13 INTs, 18 fumbles(!) and losing 9 of those.

Dobbs is super-smart: he has an aerospace engineering degree, graduated from Tenn with a 4.0 GPA, and earned their top academic award, but it doesn't translate consistently to the field. I'd call him a "fireworks player" -- he starts fast, has a moment of "wow!," and quickly fizzles out. Shanahan may think he can get the talant out of him, but seven other guys thought the same thing.

I thought Dobbs was awful at UT, and was surprised when the Steelers drafted him (4th round, no less!).
I was again surprised when he looked damn good that preseason. But nothing ever came of it, and he's had very little success since. His opportunities may not have been under the best of circumstances, but he still had some that other NFL QBs never get.

The truth is that he likely would be a good QB in the UFL, but not in the NFL.
