From packers.com:

Head Coach Mike McCarthy will not attend this week’s Pro Bowl in Hawaii because of a stomach illness. Doctors have advised him not to travel at this time. Associate Head Coach/Linebackers Winston Moss will handle his head-coaching responsibilities at the Pro Bowl for the remainder of the week.

Just became must watch for Henry.

You'd think Goodell would get a clue when 47 players and millions of viewers opt out. Put the PB out of its -- and our! -- misery.

Andrew Brandt made a great observation this afternoon. The players' union strongly supports the Pro Bowl and wants it to be continued. Contract bonus  fodder, free trip, publicity, post-career laurel of sorts for the selectees.

Great negotiating fodder for the league v. the NFLPA.

So if they are going to continue the prob owl at least go back to AFC vs. NFC.  Why would Clay Mathews want to get after AR12? Or any other teams mates where one is on offense and one on defense.  Get rid of this stupid draft so the game becomes somewhat competitive again.  Of course the higher up NFL morans think the draft by 1 blowhard and one pretty good guy is what the fans want, but it ain't what this fan wants.

hell, it just became watchable for me knowing I'll finally see this Asst Head Coach Moss in action, or is it inaction? anyway, if we loosely apply the superb owl naming convention in this instance we get "prob owl", which is short for probability owl and that works for me.

I prefer adding a letter for an even better meaning: Probe Owl.

Say hello to our fine, feathered proctologist.

I say get rid of the game and replace it with a skills challenge, kind of like the NBA has with dunk, 3 point and the obstacle course.  Longest throw, fastest WR, strongest lineman, etc.  Damn, even have an eating challenge for the big guys.  Just turn it into a bunch of games.  You might even get guys like AR to show up if they get a chance to drop a football into a basket from 50 yards away.

Yeah, they want all the benefit without any injury risk, so the fans get a crappy game because the players half-ass it.
The league has the money to remove the risk/reward factor, and protect both the player and his team in the case of injury. Without that, or similar, it might as well be turned into a skills competition as CUPF noted.

Even a skills competition could have some issues. Robert Edwards is the poster child for this. He blew out his knee playing flag football at a Pro Bowl rookie game and his career was basically over.

Guys blow out their knees all the time on non-contact plays (think Jordy Nelson). I don't know what the solution is, but it isn't to have guys go out there and play not to get hurt.

From Wikipedia;

Edwards was chosen by the New England Patriots in the first round of the 1998 NFL Draft. He rushed for 1,115 yards for the Patriots in the 1998 National Football League season, before blowing out his knee at an NFL rookie flag football game in Hawaii during Pro Bowl week. Edwards barely escaped the injury without having his leg amputated below the knee, and he was told he might not walk again.[1]

Edwards would not play football again until 2002, when he made his return with the Miami Dolphins. In his first game back, against the Detroit Lions, Edwards caught a touchdown pass and ran for another score. He spent the rest of the season sharing third-down back duties with fellow running back Travis Minor. After the season, he lost his spot on the roster to Leonard Henry.
