Any Packer selected to the Pro Bowl would have had to decline the invitation anyway since they're going to be playing in the Super Bowl the next week.

Packers might win the division leading the NFL in games lost due to injury. Best QB in football missing 7 weeks. And zero pro bowlers.

Eddie Lacy had better stats than ALGoreya

I predict Josh Sitton and Eddie Lacy will be injury replacements. Maybe Jordy too.

That's the way I feel too, Chilli. The fact that the Packers are able to perform so well despite not having any pro-bowl level players is a testament to McCarthy's overall coaching ability. Now, it sure wouldn't hurt to have some blue chip players besides Rodgers. Just imagine how far we'd go if we actually had some talent here!

First time since 2005 that the Packers haven't had a Pro Bower. Hard to believe that Lacy or one of the OL didn't at least get in as an alternate. Maybe the alternates aren't decided yet.

Which is fitting given that the Packers led the league in injury replacements.

This can't be true. I've read on the innerwebs MM should be fired for not having a back-up QB and all other injured players that are as good as the player who was hurt. In fact I've read it on here.

Watched about 15 minutes worth on NFL network regarding the picks and I couldn't stomach anymore of it. Too fkn loud and a dumbass format - typical NFL network crap!. The pro bowl will be worse than ever!

I don't watch that game, never have and I never will....all it is is a popularity contest

No pro-bowlers, yet we have a shot at going to the playoffs after missing our all-pro QB for almost eight games. Granted, the rest of our division sucks, but I think it's a testament to MM's coaching ability that the offense has kept us in game after game, especially once he got into the swing of calling plays for Flynn and not AR. I think at times MM was as frustrated as we were with Wallace, then Tolzien, then Flynn and all their faults. But he adjusted, and if we had been stuck with Flynn this weekend I think MM would have had a successful game plan especially because he's learned how to use Lacy. 

 

Now, about that defense... No one deserves to be a pro bowler, and I don't think Capers deserves his coach's hat. 

Figured as much...who from the Packers is really deserving?  Lacy maybe, but he is a rookie on a team that stunk for several weeks.

 

But how cool would be it if the Packers made a great run in the playoffs with no pro-bowlers?  And in this era of parity...how many pro-bowlers does a team need to win the SB?

Jordy had a Pro Bowl worthy season but the guys ahead of him did, too. Alshon Jeffry also missed out with some big numbers.

Lacy, Jordy, Sitton and maybe Shields were all worthy and yet the Browns had how many?  This is BS!

I know the Pro Bowl is a farce but the fact that Josh Sitton isn't a first team Pro Bowler is a travesty. That guy has been outstanding this year. 

AP knew Lacy was going to be good from draft day. Players know. Players should select Pro Bowlers.

Only one award matters. A ring. Period. Collect a few of those with the same team and you're place in history is cast forever.

The game hasn't even been remotely competitive since the 90s. It's just a joke to watch the "effort" that most of them put forth in that crapfest.

Thought Jordy might have a shot but there are a lot of other pretty good WRs in there as well.

 

 

Whatever little credibility the selection process had pretty much disappeared with the inclusion of Jeff Saturday last year. 

I place zero, and I mean zero credence in Pro Bowl, All Star, etc. selections. It has rarely if ever been a true reflection of the quality of a team. Maybe it's something fans can jerk off too, or celebrate in their ultra true life Fanasy League's, but it really seems meaningless to me. I do know that some players lobby hard for votes, and I'm sure that there are incentives in their contracts (?) But really the amount of attention the media and some fans pay to this "stat" is eye-rolling. If anything I guess the Packers can use as motivation moving forward, but I doubt they need to at this point.

It's sad to say, but when they allowed fans to be part of the vote in 1995 is when the selection process went to hell. Not that it was much better before then, but players and coaches choosing players should've been as good as it gets.

Also noted this is the year the NFL turns the Pro Bowl into fantasy football, with players being selected to rosters, regardless of conference, and then players will be 'drafted' from these rosters. If I understand correctly, that is.

At least we won't have to give a raise to all our pro bowl players. 

 

Shields has been pretty good this year, he should be on the team. 

With this new "pro bowl draft" format to determine the rosters, the actual game promises to be more pointless than ever... and that's saying something.  Team Rice vs Team Deion?  This format is an embarrassment to the game.

 

At this point I wish the league would call the game off altogether and have a group of NFL scouts select 1st and 2nd team rosters for each conference.

Even though there are no Pro Bowl players on the Pack, there are 5 Pro Bowl level talents on the offense if Cobb gets healthy.  Rodgers, Nelson, Cobb, Sitton, and Lacy are big time talents despite being snubbed due to injury or other circumstances.  Frankly I thought Crosby and Masthay were at least worthy of consideration too.

 

Now as for the defense, what a huge disappointment they all were.  I thought Shields had a good year on an otherwise pathetically bad defense.  That said, I certainly wouldn't consider him Pro Bowl worthy.

If this is the case Raji should have been the 1st player selected.

I don't get all this talk about Pro Bowlers.  I want football players.  I don't care how good they bowl.

I thought #50 deserved it.

 

What team have you been watching?  I've been watching a team that has only won 2 games since it lost the star qb.

Yeah, true.  But here's the thing.  Jordy does not get as many targets because his quarterbacks were very conservative when it came to throwing those 50/50 up for grab balls as compared to other QBs who are more willing to take interceptions.  I'm not saying that's a bad thing, just sayin.  In addition, Jordy had subpar QBs for nearly half the season and ole noodle arm couldn't pass the ball beyond his first read not to mention beyond 20 yds. 

 

Two years ago Jordy had a phenomenal season and couldn't make the selection then.  Why the fk did I think he would of had a chance this year? 

 

As for fans voting, sht I thought the Packers were among the most popular teams. How could that possibly hurt the Packers?  I do not have a problem with fans voting, but this unlimited voting thing is absurd.

 

Actually, perhaps the best method for selection is to make the process more objective than subjective by setting up performance metrics for each position. I also favor the NFC vs AFC format more than the sht that is occurring now. 

 

I hope the Packers carry a HUGE chip on their collective shoulders for their remaining games.

Eddie Lacy is a rookie & he may not be blue-chip yet but he will be.

 

Randall Cobb is blue-chip. Anyone that thinks otherwise is dramatically underestimating him. Jordy Nelson is Red+ minimum & always underestimated. Jermichael Finley was going to be blue-chip this year but of course got derailed. Josh Sitton is damn good. Red+ minimum. Sam Shields is Red+, CM3 = Blue. 

 

We have minimum 3 blue & that isn't with my G&G glasses on.
