When current Brooklyn Nets coach Lionel Hollins coached the Memphis Grizzlies in 2011, he said he couldn't even watch his son Austin play for the University of Minnesota because the college game was too boring.

"I watched Wisconsin and Minnesota play down the stretch, and I couldn't take it," Hollins said then. "They just hold the ball and hold the ball, and try to get a shot with 10 seconds on the clock."

Badgers coach Bo Ryan has used the slow-down tactics to great success, including last year's run to the Final Four and a 20-2 start this year that has Wisconsin ranked No. 5. Wisconsin ranks 39th in the country at 74.4 points per game this season, but many teams at schools both big and small have employed a more deliberate offensive system over the years to neutralize athletic shortcomings.

Explain to me why the AP would pick Wisconsin out of 300+ Division 1 programs?  The article acknowledges that the Badgers are in the top 40 in the nation in scoring (4th in the Big 10 in case you are interested).  Is Bo just recruiting too many unathletic (meaning white) guys for the taste of the modern day sports media?  Three paragraphs of true idiocy.

The stacking of memes:

1. Wisconsin is a bunch of slow, unathletic white guys playing football in shorts.

2. The Big 10 overall is winter football.

3. No flash and pizzazz = no features on SportsCenter, ergo boring basketball.

4. Bo Ryan is a defensive guru, even though historically throughout his career his teams have scored a lot.

Using one meme is lazy.  Stacking all of these on top of each other is almost impressive laziness.

Anybody been looking at UW's offensive efficiency numbers this season?  They're literally historically good.  They're like the Spurs of college basketball in how they play offense, but don't bother some national hack to actually look into that.

47 points.  Team still sucks.

Sweet 16 appearances since 2011

Wisconsin, 5 of the last 6, and 3 in a row

Arizona, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, North Carolina all have appeared in 4 of the last 6 sweet 16s. Kind of a who's who of men's college BB.

Wisconsin MBB is an elite program.
