$28 million well spent.......
What QBs will vikes go after next year. Flacco may be available.
McCarthy going to be Spielmans next high spend lifeline grab.
I don't want Cousins anywhere near this team.
Ooops....
sk-lol
$84 million
Best excuse I've heard from a Viking fan as why they lose: Tough place to win in Seattle, especially when they break out their illegal blinding uniforms that they use when they play important teams. Hard for the eyeballs to adjust when your look away from those high-vis neon green-yellow things.
What will they come up with next?
Yet that guy has embarrassed the Packers defense twice this season...

That Seattle and others pipe in fake crowd noise?
F&&k the Spermheads
The locals here in MN seem to be split in terms of blame-placing. It's precious to watch. Quite a few clinging to Wagner's field goal block as the culprit. For others reality is starting to settle in that maybe their expensive QB is not a god after after all and/or the OC is not doing his job. On that note, I haven't seen anything that would make me want to see "Flip" as a HC.

Would that include throwing INTs then having it summarily overturned?
In the 2nd game the defense allowed 24 points.
If the Packers weren't so dysfunctional, they win both games. It's much more about what the Packers didn't do than anything the Vikings did.

The Vikes could have signed Keenum for about a 3rd what they spent on Capt. Kirk. Then bought 2 OL type dudes and be a lock for the Superb Owl. THANKS SPIELDOPE!!!
Listening to the TV announcers made the game good for me. They berated Cousins for getting that kind of money and putting on a performance like the one he gave last night. Hasselbeck, after the game, tried to give some comfort to Cousins by blaming the vikings O Line for allowing Seattle's pass rush to be in Cousins shirt, all night long. Remember, Hasselbeck was a QB, so he takes pity on other struggling QBs. The kicker for me was when Wagner leapt over the vikings O Line and was able to block the FG. He had this hands on the backs of his teammates on the line when he leapt over them, which is leverage and against the rules. A ref had a flag thrown on it but was talked into picking it up. If it counted the vikings would have had a first down and some momentum. I hate how Seattle gets all the calls going their way, but in this case, it was against the vikings, so I'm good. LMAO! Cousins is the most overrated QB in the league. Minnesota would have saved a lot of money by keeping Keenum. Keenum, at least, got them to the NFLCG. Cousins will watch the playoffs from his living room.

The refs stole the first viking-Packer game from us, with the "illegal" hit penalty on Matthews, giving us a tie. Wagner's play and picked up penalty flag stole any chance for a victory from the vikings. How do you like it when calls don't go your way, vikings?
Yeah the commentators ripped Cousins pretty good. My favorite was when it was 12-0 and Seattle was going for 2 with like 3 or 4 minutes left.
One of them goes, "It's not like it matters, this offense isn't scoring 13 points with Cousins at quarterback" and I'd swear they all laughed.
Brutal. Just beautifully brutal.
Kirk Cousins is not a bad QB. He's a guy that's probably in the 10-15 range in terms of ranking NFL QBs. He's like Tony Romo, Carson Palmer, Kyle Orton, Matt Schaub, Joe Flacco, and Alex Smith. He's good enough to win with, but isn't a guy that will take a good team and make it great.
The problem is that the Vikings are paying him 84 million over three years to be great, instead of just resigning Case Keenum for 10 million a year less. Keenum and Cousins both get you to the same place, it's just that Cousins extra salary prevents you from signing two other good veteran players or one great player.
I'd say that's accurate, MP. He didn't really deserve to get grilled like that. But he is a Viking so.
Edit: same with the bad call. Queens earned every last bit of it.

You mean when the refs flagged Clay Matthews for a totally legal hit on a play where Jaire Alexander intercepted the pass from Cousins that would have sealed the victory for the Packers? Instead, it gave the vikings a fresh set of downs where Brice got to cover Diggs on a deep route down the middle of the field? The refs embarrassed the Packers in that one. The Packers should have fired McCarthy before the 2nd viking game. Maybe new coaching would have thrown the vikings off a hair. The Packers lost by 7.

I thought it might be Kareem Hunt.
Queens gave him money approaching elite status and he's just slightly above average. You don't get what you pay for in this case.

Jeff George, Gus Frerotte, Kelly Holcomb, Donovan McNabb, Matt Cassel, Sam Brandford, Shaun Hill, Case Keenum
Aside from them, pretty solid overall.
Man, if the Bears hadn't signed Mack this year how sad would this division look right now? I mean it's still pretty shitty but at least you can point at the Bears as a legit team lacking a legit QB.

Quite an indictment of both Cousins and DeFillipo. I think the point that Cousins doesn't create is especially true. His pocket mobility is atrocious. Compare him to a dancing AR, whose feet are constantly moving, has the ability to elude a rush with very little movement. Usually once the pocket starts to break down, Cousins goes into the fetal position.
Kirk Cousins’ career record vs. teams above .500 falls to 4-24

He's really the same player I watched at MSU. Saw much the same thing happen with Scott Mitchell- a player plays above his talent level for a period and some people think he's something he's not.

Oh but wait there is more
Primetime record = 5-13
Record against winning teams this year = 0-5
Career road record = 12-23-2
MNF record? 0-7
Yep that adds up to 84 million
Self scouting. Where have we heard that before?
This game got their offensive coordinator fired just now.
Well, another kick-ass offensive jeenyus thrown under the bus...

Well as we know, quarterbacks can get HC fired, so why not a OC? Bet Spielman's looking for the receipt for Cousins.
DeFilippo must’ve thought his best way to audition for the #Packers job was endearing himself to the Wisconsin fan base, by sabotaging the Vikings.

The firing of John DeFilippo makes me wonder whether Mike Zimmer is starting to become worried that he could be this year's surprise firing.
— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) December 11, 2018
Pettine - Head Coach
DeFilippo - OC
Jim Leonard - DC
let DeFilippo and Leonard hire their position coaches. Pettine hires a new ST coordinator.
DeFilippo is a sharp guy and he’s being canned because Speilman and Zimmer need a fall guy. But never forget Speilman hired DeFilippo before he threw $84 million at Cousins. Can’t admit Cousins might be the problem now.
This could work out incredibly well.....
I really think Leonard has a bright future in coaching and we have seen what he can do if he has talent to work with. I would actually be intrigued by him in GB.
What gets me is that Zimmer NEVER appreciated what Keenum was doing, was dismissive about him, and it's so ironic that the guy he thought would be the final piece is so much less than Keenum was last year.

No argument from me- the Packers should have 10-11 wins right now if they weren’t as you say, dysfunctional.
But the guy did throw for 767 yards and 7 TDs teams in 2 wins. If Rodgers did that shit we’d be proclaiming his Lordship over the Vikings...
