Jones is back. Fantastic
I'm not worried about this game and Teddy. But I watched the game yesterday, and the kid is going to be special. He looked good, composed, made plays against a pretty tough ATL D.
Pretty tough ATL D? They might be the worst D in the entire league! They've played one decent offense so far this season (Cincy), one very average offense and two terrible offenses. If not for Jax they would be the worst defense in football.
Funny, Holmgren said "no more rocket balls, okay?", and yet Rodgers throws harder than Favre ever did.
Rodgers doesn't throw harder than Favre ever did. He throws a much nicer ball it is isn't harder.
Driver disagrees with you AtTheMurph.
I disagree with AtTheMurph. go back and watch some of Jordy's catches last Sunday. he catches those balls to keep them from rocketing right through his body.
Bad break for Boykin. It wouldn't surprise me now if he'll be out another 4-6 weeks minimum.
BIG opportunity for Adams; even Janis, Rodgers, and especially Quarless should take advantage. We're getting thin at WR and need somebody to take some pressure off Jordy and Cobb.
Boyd's situation may be similar to Boykin's. Thats a shame.
Too bad to see Neal is hurt. Again.
Speaking of stepping up, Pennell, Elliott, and some of these younger guys have the same big opportunities as the TE's do. They've started getting some game snaps; I'd like to see them take advantage of that.
Ditto for Datone and Perry. These 2-3 year guys shouldn't need any motivation.
If there is a silver lining to the injuries, it's that it largely takes care of the inactive list for games. If Neal can't go Thursday, it will just about be set.
When Holmgren was chiding Favre for the 'rocket ball', it was for a short throw. I can't recall specifically if it was to a RB or maybe a TE, but whoever he was throwing to was only 3-4 yards away. It may have been on a screen play?
Of course, Favre threw a fastball when a toss was needed, was totally unnecessary, and blew the play completely up. Thus the comment.
So he's going to bitch about not getting the ball enough and encourage his sister to tweet about what a terrible place Minnesohhhhhta is?quote:Whitt seems to think Greg Jennings is back to his former self.
In the first half of the Detroit game AR threw a short laser to Starks from about 10 feet away that just about took off his head that would have gone for decent yardage if it had just a tad less on it.
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings aren't tipping their hand about what they will do with Teddy Bridgewater on Thursday night in Green Bay.
Bridgewater was listed as questionable for the Vikings' game against the Packers at Lambeau Field after he was a limited participant in practice for the first time this week.
The rookie, who sprained his left ankle on a fourth-quarter run Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, said Tuesday he's "much further ahead" of where he was after Sunday's game, adding that his ankle feels "pretty good."
But coach Mike Zimmer said in a SiriusXM radio interview Wednesday that the Vikings would give themselves until Thursday on a Bridgewater decision.
"We will see how Teddy Bridgewater is doing tomorrow," Zimmer said in the interview. "It's a long season, so we don't want to put him at risk."
If Bridgewater is unable to start, Christian Ponder would make his first start of the year against the Packers. The last time the Vikings were in Green Bay for a prime-time game, it was Ponder whose status as the starting quarterback was in doubt; he was declared questionable for a 2013 NFC wild-card game against the Packers only to miss the game with a bruised elbow that left him unable to throw the ball farther than 15 yards.
This time, Ponder could step in for Bridgewater if the Vikings decide not to play the rookie on what is forecast to be a rainy night in Wisconsin.
Chad Greenway is officially out. Blurbs out of local media in Minny is if it is a downpour in GB, that increases the changes Bridgewater won't play. Wet field and high ankle sprain aren't what they want.
They'll lose with Bridgewater, just the same as they would with Ponder.quote:The Minnesota Vikings aren't tipping their hand about what they will do with Teddy Bridgewater on Thursday night in Green Bay.
If Teddy B can play, he would be quite limited, I'd imagine. He might be able to throw some passes and hand off/pitch the ball to RBs, but he surely couldn't scramble much or otherwise take off downfield. He would look like Clay returning that INT.
I seem to remember TOG getting a bad ankle sprain in a game, and the next was vs Minnesota. He had that ankle wrapped to the point it looked like a club foot, and no way he should've been playing.
After watching RG3's leg flop around in the Redskins' playoff game a year or 2 back, I'd believe a team would put a player on the field that has no business doing so.
So it wouldn't surprise me if Bridgewater does indeed play. A good defense should be well-prepared to react and adjust if/when needed. If Ponder plays, see previous comment.
Have no interest in reading supposed injury reports. Expect Bridgewater has a slight tweak and will be good to go. . Unfortunately have no faith in our defense either. Offense needs to score some points.
**** Teddy Bridgewater.
But saddling them with both the yoke of previous shortcomings AND the inevitability of future suckitude just isn't a very enlightened position in my opinion
I'd say using recent history plus what we have seen 1/4 of the way into the season is all the enlightenment I'll need here.
They have been a really bad to terrible defense for 3 1/4 seasons. I'll be very happy to be proven wrong over the last 3/4 of the year but right now this defense sucks. You can cherry pick all the positives you want but until they show otherwise the defense still sucks.
Thank you, Adrian Peterson for being a terrible human being. You probably spared Packer fans from watching you run for 299 yards in a prime time game.
Also Bak>Sherrod.
Teddy Bridewater will play. He's not a big runner at this point like a Seneca Wilson, he actually looked pretty sharp and threw with accuracy.
Either way, when he does play, it's going to be a challenge for our D, they are going to want to pound the ball by committee, then get Patterson involved.
Our D must step up and the O get a great lead so we force them into a predictable offense. They are going to have twists for our D, I would think we have some for theirs!
Rogers > Bridewater.
Rodgers Is Like Montana
Who is Bridgewater like?
This implies the Packers have a good defense.quote:So it wouldn't surprise me if Bridgewater does indeed play. A good defense should be well-prepared to react and adjust if/when needed. If Ponder plays, see previous comment.
This......I expect MN to put up points on this defense, but GB's (O) should be better and hopefully runs away in the end. If not, I think it one of those neck and neckners. I'm nervous, but the Vikings bring about the absolute worst in me.
It's impossible too to say what MN has in Bridgewater. It's been one game and I'm not basing a prediction off college. So much will go into how opposing defenses eventually game plan against him, and how he is developed as an NFL QB by MN.
Looks like rain will start early afternoon. It is going to be a wet one. Low 60's for temps so shouldn't be too bad in the stands.
Adam Schefter reporting this morning that signs point to Teddy Bridgewater not playing tonight.
Let me Ponder that again?
Adam Schefter reporting this morning that signs point to Teddy Bridgewater not playing tonight.
Doesn't really matter, Ponder has had a good deal of success against this defense over the previous two seasons (let that sink in for a moment). Hopefully, not having Adrian Peterson will be the difference this time.
Peppers rated +8.5. I thought you people stated he was not doing so well.
"You people"
Is a +8.5 a good rating?
Will Carroll β @injuryexpert
Bridgewater still a GTD, but still leaning to out according to sources.
Rejoice
#Packers fans. Soon there will be 53 players on the roster. DL Luther Robinson will be promoted from Psquad & on the roster tonight

nobody knows.
It may or may not be better than a 6.5

On Peterson, it won't matter. The Vikings have a great run blocking line. Those young RBs will get their yards.
@AdamSchefter: Vikings just promoted QB Chandler Harnish from practice squad to active roster, a sign Teddy Bridgewater will not start tonight.

This will be interesting to watch tonight -
The Norv will want to use play-action as much as possible to freeze both the coverage LBs and the pass rush. The Dom wants to use more 1 gap penetrating DL that aren't as susceptible to freezing vs play action. Jolly/Pickett/Wilson et al always played 2 gap, so they didn't have any pass rush vs play action and teams killed GB with it.
With different body types, assignments and alignments on the DL - we'll see if we can discern any improvement.
They certainly can't ignore the run, but you can play run on the way to the QB IF you are shooting gaps.
Is a +8.5 a good rating?
It's PFF. I'm sure their total objective fantasmagoriphying stat muncher cruncher is spot on.
Really? Can you ask them to start tonight?
