Overview

Cobb's a 'tweener lacking the size to be a full-time back or the ball skills and deep speed of a pure receiver. However, he could still make plays as a scat back, sub-package slot receiver and as a returner. Plays his best in the biggest moments. Possesses solid vision, enough quickness to get the corner and gain yards after short passes but isn't a true home run threat. Could be an effective third down back with his short area speed and route-running but hands need to be more consistent and he has a ways to go in pass protection. Cobb is a late Day 2 prospect.

I would like to see Cobb lined up in the backfield and some true west coast screens be run. Kinda like they used to do with Edgar and Dorsey. They seem to prefer screens where the RB runs out to the flat for an "almost behind the line of scrimmage" screen. Maybe the Packer O-line isn't athletic enough to run these, but I think Cobb could run these magnificently!
Love that pre-draft assessment above. Day 2! Hah! I was stoked when we got him in the second round, almost like getting two round one picks. If the draft was doneover he's be in the top half of the first round. Ted did his homework.
After watching this guy in HS and in college, I thought round 2 was a bargain. I was predicting the Packers would trade back to the early part of round 2 and take him or take him outright in round 1. The guy is more than I ever guessed he would be in year 2.
He's better than Percy and far more mature.
Heard on the news last nite that on the winning TD he caught he didn't even know the ball was thrown to him. He took a glance back, located the ball in the air and made the catch. That was a phenomenal one handed catch!
from the GBPG:

Of his own catch, Cobb didn’t think the ball would come his way after the way he got off the line of scrimmage. Then, he barely saw the ball between finding it in the air late and peering through sweat and rubber granules that dotted the visor on his facemask.

“I inside released, which normally the quarterback gets off you, whenever that happens,” Cobb explained. “And he gave me the opportunity still. I caught (vision of) the ball about midway; I didn’t see it at first, and I was able to adjust to it. My visor was a little dirty, but I was able to make the catch.”

They have had him throw before, what is actually wide open is a reverse from that play, the offenses from week to week are keying on him when in the backfield. It is amazing he is still as productive as he is back there, since he probably touches the ball 90% of the time when lined up in the backfield. MM eventually needs to run some different stuff from that formation or he will start to see diminishing returns.
A little torn on the Kickoffs, but for now I'm leaning toward the potential of him popping one every few weeks is still worth the occasional start at the 16.

I'm just amazed he's made himself so important to the offense that we are having this discussion before he's even played 30 games.
He's a good returner but has put the ball on the ground which he did yesterday once or maybe even twice. I say leave him there for the rest of this season and hope he can hang on to the ball and break some long returns.

I think the NFL has made kickoffs almost irrelevant. I agree, take him off the KO team and save him for punts.

Only if the line holds up.
