Thanks Boris - good stuff!

I have a DVD of an abbreviated telecast of both SB 1 & 2. For SB1 it brought back some memories - like the pass interference call against our defense, Carroll Dale's TD catch that was called back because of a holding penalty, and Jim Taylor's run for a TD. It also showed how few people were in the stands.

Somewhere I read how Kramer said that when they watched film of their first 2 SB opponents as a team, they laughed because of all the miscues they had. Lombardi had to step in and remind them that these guys could beat them. I always thought the first half of SB1 against the Chiefs was a wakeup call of sorts for the Pack. The second half was more what everyone expected from the start.

I'll rewatch it and let you know. It has been about a year since I last watched it.

In my memory, partly right. In his bookInstant Replay Kramer said the consensus on viewing the Raiders was that "they look pretty good." This, he said was in marked contrast to the year before when they had watched "their (KC's) defensive backs running into each other."

I agree completely about the first half of SB I.
