PFT’s Mike Florio, citing a source with knowledge of the discussions, reports the Vikings offered a seventh-round pick to Baltimore for Boldin.

EDIT: Ravens getting hammered on Twitter. Why would they have pulled the trigger so quick? Seems obvious they could have held out at least little longer.

Maybe have to rethink my Ozzie Newsome gushing...
As much as I like Russel Wilson I have a feeling he might come back down to earth in the coming years. Besides beating the Packers on a hail mary, he had a bunch of lucky scampers for first downs and TDs throughout last season.

A year of film and some defenses committed to getting some hits on him might slow down that kind of production.

Same goes for CK.
First thing, San Francisco will come back to the mean when it comes to injuries. They 1 significant injury last year (Justin Smith, although case can be made for Alex Smith). Maybe they've figured something out to keep their guys healthier than the rest of the league, but it's more likely they've been lucky the last 2 years. I expect them to deal with injuries like everyone else.

And second thing, both Wilson and Kaepernick are likely to come back to earth a little as teams are able to study the read option and their specific tape. Look sat Dalton and Newton from 2011; both had worse seasons in 2012. They likely were better in 2012, but defenses knew how to play them.

They'll both be good teams next year, but nothing the Packers can't compete with.
SEA and SF were the #1 and #2 teams last year as far as health goes. They lost very, very few players to injury last season. Packers, as usual, were near the bottom of the league as far as games missed by starters and guys on IR

I think at full health the Pack stack up well with them. I think SEA/SF have a bit more overall impact talent, but the Pack have the best QB, which goes a long way these days

Question will be how physical/tough this team will be compared to SEA/SF this upcoming season. They get to play @ SF this upcoming season, but won't get to see Seattle until the playoffs at best
While I'm sure the 49ers have a healthy respect for GB, I'm guessing they don't fear us in any way. They dominated us first at home and again in the playoffs with 2 different QB's that are far inferior to AR. That being said, every year is different and injuries, chemistry, luck, aging veterans losing a step, etc. all factor into the final product come playoff time.

Hold it right there.

Let me get this straight. They didn't fear us at all which is why they held the read/option all year just to spring it on the league vs. The Packers.

Right. Trust me. They were petrified of getting bounced by Green Bay. Too bad the Packer defense was out manned.

Pick 6 to start the game. Almost had em. Almost.
My opinion on that one was that they had the read option ready to roll in some capacity, but when they reviewed the Packer-Viking game in the dome, they saw a golden opportunity to exploit the Tramon / Walden side of the field

Had GB won that game in minny, SF would not have had as much time to prepare on offense and Justin Smith would have has one less week to heal.

Yes we almost had them, and then they destroyed and embarassed us. Some favorable bounces of the ball helped their cause, but I don't think we beat them even without the read option to be honest. They dominated us early in the season without it.

I would think that was coming out in their first playoff game no matter who they played.

Perhaps but do you think they unleash it vs the vikings? I'll go out on a limb and say no.
I think titmfatied is right, the 49ers probably would have used the read option in their first playoff game, no matter who they played. They weren't going to hold anything back. I don't think it would have mattered one bit if it had been a WC game against the Bears instead of a divisional game against the Packers. The 49ers still probably would have beaten the Packers at Lambeau even if they were expecting that gameplan, but it sure as hell wouldn't have been the slaughter it was.

Oooohh shocking. Exploiting 6th & 7th round draft picks. How did they ever see that on film.

Not sure what point you are trying to make? On our D or O? I just think they were clearly the better team at that point in the season all things considered (including injuries which were clearly a factor but we will never know if that would have changed the outcome)

We emphasize draft and develop. We don't make trades 'cause we want our picks 'cause we are genius drafters. We don't sign free agents 'cause we have to resign our own.

The we beeotch 'cause 6th and 7th round picks are on the field in the biggest game of the season.
