Watching replay of opening game. On the play where CMIII hit C K out ofbounds the 4pers also got an unsportmans like penalty. The refs made it 3rd and 6 when it should have been 4th and 2.  Boldin gets a TD on the next play. However if the right call had been made the 49ers very well have kicked a FG  in a tie game in the 2nd quarter. When you lose by 3 that call turned out to be huge.  I never know the refs blew that call.

Why ? because you can often learn something

If the difference between a win and a loss is as arbitrary as what happened on the Fail Mary in Seattle...it means that you'll miss some good performances if you only re-watch the wins

Good things happen in losses too and some large- brains have opined that "you learn more from your failures than your successes"

Meh, I get learning from mistakes, etc and fully support that in academics, work, life, etc.  On board there.

Sports?  I just can't enjoy watching them lose after the fact.  If I was the coaching staff, etc of course, I'd watch the piss out of it.  And, if you enjoy it, more power to you.  I just cannot spend my time on an outcome I already know is/was disappointing.  I'll watch every game live, even if I am 100% my team loses (hell, I watch my alma mater's football games), but would never rewatch it...

I am a glutton for punishment.  I watched Super Bowl XXXII probably 10 times after the Pack lost in my younger days.  Somehow, I hoped the result would change but it never did.  It was truly a great game though from a football standpoint.  2 very strong teams and 1 team wanted it more than the other.

Sure Satori. But I'm not a player or a coach. If I was then I would re - watch the games we lost to learn & improve. But since I'm a fan...um, no! I have no desire to relive a loss or an "instant classic" that we lost.

If I missed something, I check out directv short cuts. It's perfect.

If I remember right on that same drive McCarthy accepted a penalty on what would have been 4th and goal from around the 2 yard line to give SF another shot at 3rd down. Didn't understand at the time why he didn't decline and let the Niners either kick a FG or go for a TD.
