At least make an effort I'd say. Maybe hold out some of the guys who are injured, but the Lions are going to give this game their best shot since they haven't won a game in Wisconsin (neither Green Bay or Milwaukee) since 1991. I could see them getting really amped up and possibly going on a run if they win on Sunday.

Blow out? Lions are favored. I think we rest guys but annoying to lose a home game and have the Lion's streak of 20 straight years of losing in Wisconsin be broken. Nobody really talks about this. I wonder what the record is for home wins vs divisional opponent?
I know the Niners had about 18 straight against the Rams at one point. But that was home and away.

the lions cannot match up. Especially in Green Bay. Hence the 19 game losing streak. i am not expecting this to be close for long.

The Colts made it to the SB the year they rested their players. MM is still going to go for the win, it'll just be up to the backups to get it done.

I say rest them...I think the backups can win this game anyway. MM just has to make sure the team has an excellent week of practice leading up to the first playoff game and we'll be fine.

For those that want to use extreme caution: do you really want to have 3 weeks between meaningful snaps for players in a timing offense and expect them to be able to "flip the switch" in R2 of the playoffs? Jennings will already have what, 5 weeks off? The Pack will only win in the playoffs if the offense is in top form and I don't think you can play football in the NFL being scared about injuries.

I can see resting guys like Woodson and CM3 as they have shown a couple weeks off can really give them some extra juice. Defense is reactionary in nature so extra time off doesn't really make a unit lose continuity. The only caveat is someone like Pickett may be out of game-shape and may need the reps to get some cardio back.

The entire off-season didn't slow the offense down. Except for 1 game they've been clicking since week one. It's not about flipping the switch on and off; it's pretty much always been on.

Anyway, I trust McCarthy will find the middle ground. Rodgers will hit 2 or 3 series and get the heck out of there.

People are acting like they have to keep the starters in to the final whistle for the win or all momentum is lost, or the integrity of the game is ruined, or the team will take on some whole new losing mindset, or some other overused cliche bullcrap. It's all hogwash.

I'm guessing AR12 stays in the game until 1 of 3 things happens: 1) offense produces 10-14 points, 2) a long TD pass (30+), or 3) halftime.

Think back to the final preseason game - McCarthy made sure the offense ended on a good note before taking out the starters. Seems to be his SOP.

Rodgers may not play at all: Flynn to Start?

My guess is Rodgers starts the game and Flynn takes over in the 2nd or 3rd quarter.

Unless an injury is in serious need of rest, I think the starters should go, and play at least the first half. You just can't play afraid of injuries.

The team has to be in a rhythm heading into the playoffs.

I can see them playing it like the first pre-season game. Starters go a quarter unless they are banged up and then they don't play. Some say we will lose the momentum but let's remember we have a week off after this game where others would say you lose your momemtum. They'e professionals. They can adapt and deal with it. All you want from this next game is NO INJURIES TO ANYONE BUT DEFINITELY NOT STARTERS!

Playing the entire first half feels about right to me.

AR on the inactive list feels about right to me. If he does play, 1-3 series tops. If the offense does happen to struggle in the postseason it won't be because of AR's playing time in a meaningless game.

Play him half the game. The last time Rodgers sat out a week and a half it ended pretty well.

I think Detroit has a lot more to win/lose in this argument than GB.

While I'd like to see our core guys like Rodgers and CMIII and Woodson play, I wouldn't have a problem if McCarthy pulled them or sat them for this game. Those guys have playoff experience, and I doubt they will have a problem "turning it on" come two weeks.

As for Detroit, if they happen to get a guy like Stafford or Megatron hurt in a meaningless game (having to play next week) then they are pretty stupid- although- they might be better off winning this week and not having to play New Orleans or SF next week. If you are the wild card team you want that 5th seed so you can play either the Cowboys or Giants.

They've got nothing to gain in this game and everything to lose (injuries). They miss 3 hours of a game and you think they're going to seed?????

They're still lifting weights, walk throughs, scrimmages-grass drills-circle drill-nut cracker if MM thinks they're getting lazy, team meetings. What do you think the Hutson Center is for?????
