Wondering with McCarthy saying Newhouse will probably be playing some-if we dont bring him in as extra o-line man (eligable) like shermans old U-71 bacon package-For short yardage could be very effective.

Could be....a Jumbo package would be a cool twist,
Seahawks did it in preseason vs GB
Problem is, Sherman brought in Kevin Berry because he was road grader. He wasn't a good all around OG, but he was big and strong and was a good run blocker. Newhouse's biggest weakness is his run blocking. It's certainly possible, but it doesn't seem like a great fit for him.
They would do better lining up Raji as a designated TE.
I would think MM suggesting that MN might get some playing time most likely means he is a little worried about his two young tackles and might be planning on having MN give them some breaks during the game.
Bringing in MN as an extra run blocker doesn't make much sense IMO.
Newhouse doesn't need to be brought in as a run blocker
If they are going to help out Barclay in pass pro, Newhouse is better than any of the TEs for protecting the Franchise
I know the original U-71 was all about the run, but if you need help in passing, its not a bad move to use an OT on the end of the line.
Possibly, but MM's usual move is to keep an extra TE in the backfield for those situations.
so maybe something UNusual that these whiners haven't seen yet? just a thought.

Basically max protect. I was wondering the same thing. I wonder if you go empty backfield on it.
9ers have injuries and are not deep at CB.
Gotta find a way to buy Rodgers some time to exploit them
Jones, Nelson,Cobb, Finley into the pattern, 6 OL for max protect

Indeed
And both coaches noted that they will have a lot of un-scouted looks this Sunday afternoon. They've been busy busy busy this summer
Good point.
If a team lines up and extra T on the LOS, most defenses are going to think a running play is coming. Especially on 3rd and short when as we all know MM and AR like to throw deep.
With little success, it seems.

That's perfect, but quit talking about it in an open forum
Rodgers in shotgun, Newhouse directly behind EDS. EDS snaps ball through Newhouse's legs. EDS immediately gets pushed back into Newhouse.
Problem at C solved.
The 12 car pile up approach to pass protection.
That's better than this one
Or this one
Not to nitpick, Henry, but I count at least 26....and a semi-truck. Pull your head outta yer' rump!
