Dan Snyder is like Jerry Jones and Al Davis rolled into one.

Great get, Boris. Jason Reid is dropping truth here. Snyder, his sycophant puppet Bruce Allen, and Griffin all responsible for this. I really dislike Mike Shanahan but to lay any of Griffin's regression on him is misguided.
There are now two generations of Washington fans who for the most part have known nothing but losing and corporate rip offs. You can't imagine how bad it is for the fan base out here. And Snyder is only 50! Decades more of rot to come.

The problem was that the Redskins coaching and management has taken a very short-term approach to everything. It was a short-term approach by throwing away all of those draft picks in order to acquire RGIII. It was a short-term approach by Shanahan playing RGIII after a significant injury. It was a short-term approach by playing RGIII before he was mentally prepared.
RGIII is not blameless, but it isn't as if he didn't flash talent before his first major injury.
Fortunately, Snyder is the gift that keeps on giving. He'll fire Gruden and hire some other coach who will inevitably fail.

From my vantage point I think most fans can't believe they are saddled with this guy. Other than winning some brownie points from the hardcore fans by fighting for the nickname so hard, there is really nothing redeeming about Dan Snyder's ownership that you can point to. They don't win (let's face it, if they were winners, most problems would be forgiven), the fan experience at FedEx is the worst in the league, access and amenity wise, team management is constantly gouging the fan base price wise, and they constantly mislead and/or lie to the fan base.
Add to this Snyder's persona, which is utterly humorless. At least Jerry Jones has charm. Dan Snyder comes across as a money grubbing prick, which he is.

I know if I were a WASH fan I would expect nothing but failure for as long as Snyder owns the team. Too bad, this was a great football "town" (actually, the DC/VA/Southern MD region) from the late 60s to the early 90s.
cuqi - I moved from DC about 8 years ago, so it was still early in Danny-boy's tenure. But back then, I think most fans loved the fact that he was a spender in FA, and a wheeler-dealer in the draft. The town went ape **** when he had LaVar and signed Bruce Smith and a few of the other "name" FAs. The team was gonna be unstoppable. The were the SuperBowl Eagles before the Eagles.
One of the problems with Snyder is that he runs the franchise, at times, like a fan. He signs the "name" FAs whether or not they fit the team. He gives out contracts today without seeing how it will affect tomorrow. And he doesn't place enough emphasis on the draft and its ability to grow talent for a team. I really think he runs the franchise like most posters on a football forum would run it.
The reality is, being a part of the NFL (player, coach, agent, marketing guy, owner, GM, scout, etc) takes an incredible amount of talent, time and ability. And those who aren't talented don't stay around the game very long. Danny doesn't seem to understand that.
I will say this about him, though. He made his $$$ in the private sector and bought a team. He should be able to do as he pleases. It's his team, his stadium, his contracts, but also his legacy. It's a shame for the fans (though living there for 15 years - F 'em!!).

I found this line in the article most interesting: "Regardless of RGIII's future, the Redskins lost about as much expected value as the Falcons gave up last year to acquire Julio Jones."
And look where Atlanta is now. Everytime some know it all Packer fan starts ragging on TT that he never trades up in the draft I hope I can remember these 2 situations.
Prior to Synder buying the team the Redskins were a decent franchise that won a lot of games. Not so much anymore.
It's got to be tough for the true blue fans to have to deal with an idot owner like that. It will take them years to recover from the RGIII trade.
