I am the last guy to jump to conclusions and cry out, "FIRE this guy!" But the Brewer pitching has held them back for two years+ now under Kranitz. He was hired in November of 2010 after failing in Baltimore and Florida.

We are LAST in pitching in the NL, based on team ERA. Ron R. and Kranitz are VERY close, so it is unlikely to happen, unless Melvin steps in. Our bullpen is a mess, as it was last year. ALL of our starting pitchers are underachieving and the buck stops at Rick Kranitz.

This reminds me of Dom Capers, who doesn't really deserve to have a job either after our HUGE playoff disasters. No one has the balls to make the move in GB and I see the same situation in Milwaukee.

Teams with collective ERAs near 5.00 don't make the post season. Something has to be done. When Hart comes back we will be one of the top three hitting teams in all of baseball, even AVERAGE pitching could get us to the post season.

MAKE THE MOVE NOW!

Pretty much every one of their younger guys they were counting on (i.e. Thornburg, Burgos, Fiers, Rogers, Peralta) have been a disappointment and at some point it can't just be all on them. Who's doing the coaching and development piece?

Outside of a few guys like Henderson the pitching on this time is flat out awful. At some point someone needs to be held accountable.
The problem with the pitching in Milwaukee is the GM. For whatever reason Doug Melvin has never been able to find and develop pitching talent whether in Milwaukee or Texas.

As was pointed out by another poster the only decent pitcher the Brewers have developed in the last decade is Yovani Gallardo and he's not exactly an ace.

The rotation right now has two guys who shouldn't be in the majors right now (Peralta and Burgos) a #5 type pitcher (Estrada) and Lohse and Gallardo. It's hard to win with that no matter who the pitching coach is.
the pitching is all over the place, Yo is a far better pitcher than we've seen. The young guys have the pitches, but fold so damn fast. I'm shocked the pen has been so good this year (aside from Ax's blow ups).

Every team has high picks flame out, the young pitchers over the years on the farm are no different (so every team has the injury excuse). What seems to separate Milwaukee from other teams in the NL is these kids don't seem prepared when they come up. I say that because it is not for rushing them, as this organization waits longer than anyone else when it comes to calling a kid up.

Well said.

Well, they basically ****ed up Thornburg big time and he was a really good looking prospect. Same thing with Peralta. Burgos isn't too far behind.

Melvin is a trainwreck with pitching (and personally I think it's time for him to go) but this franchise absolutely sucks when it comes to drafting and developing pitching

Somebody please tell me WTF Gord Ash does for a living as well

Back up the Brinks truck and raid the Cardinals organization because Antanasio is getting a crappy return on his investment
