@Vikings: We are absolutely devastated to announce legendary Minnesota Vikings head coach and Hall of Famer Bud Grant has passed away this morning at age 95.
We, like all Vikings and NFL fans, are shocked and saddened by this terrible news.

The Vikings are my least favorite sports team. Period.
I can hardly say a good thing about that franchise.
But Bud Grant was a very good coach & an even better human being.
RIP to a great one.
Amazing dude and a true legend of pro football - both NFL and CFL
Grant was one of the few athletes who got drafted into the NFL ( Eagles) and the NBA ( minneapolis Lakers). He even won an NBA title with the Lakers in 1950
Raised in Superior WI, so he had a good start on life
I only got to see the tail end of Bud Grantβs career but this guy was truly one of the greats. Was the coach of some excellent teams and those 1960βs-1970s Vikings teams under Bud were very tough even though they fell short of winning World Championships.
RIP to a true football legend.
RIP (no heaters on the sideline) Bud Grant. He was a coach I respected.
Legend.
A great man.
Bud was incredible, RIP
that said, "devastated" and "shocked" would not be the words I'd use to describe the passing of a 95 year old person. celebrate a life well lived and cheers!
All Of the above. HATE the Vikings, but always respected Bud Grant. Was he not a WI boy? Superior or something?

Ditto x 2
Odds that he is buried in a short sleeve shirt? 100 to one.
RIP Olβ Trapper.

yep born and raised in Superior. I have always loved razzing my cousins from the twin cities that their best coach was from Wisconsin.
Anyhow, as others have said I LOATHE and HATE everything about the Vikings franchise but I do have respect for Grant. He really was one of the best to ever do it.
Peter Kings column this morningβ¦
7. He hated Vince Lombardi. Thought he was a bully. On Oct. 15, 1967, the 0-4 Vikings traveled to Milwaukee to play the 3-0-1 Packers. Green Bay was the defending world champion after winning the first Super Bowl nine months earlier. Minnesota shocked Green Bay 10-7 for the first win of Grantβs career. Grant went to shake hands with Lombardi post-game. βI put my hand out,β Grant said years later. βHe wouldnβt shake hands with me. And that was the last time I ever talked to him.β
Blasphemy.
Those were the good old days when the Teams hated each other. Nowadays itβs just hatred between fans.
I'd like to see the video, please. But Grant was a great coach and a better person. He was a big outdoorsman, as well. He could coach. RIP to a MN legend.
