Donna Douglas, who played Elle Mae Clampett on the popular 1960s sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies, has died at the age of 81. The show more or less typecast Douglas, but she took it in stride, embracing the fact that people liked the character. After the show ended in 1971, she remained very close friends with co-star Buddy Ebsen, and recorded gospel music among other pursuits.
